I forgive your ignorance. Some fans, no matter how much they try, just can't understand how the NFL works... SMH :pats_suck:

Well shit, what team do u work for? Surely someone as bright as yourself who knows more about salary caps and running a team must already work in the nfl.

    From Rotoworld:

In addition to the Jets, NFL Network's Mike Lombardi reports that the Jaguars have "serious interest" in trading for Tim Tebow.

The Jags apparently aren't just discussing the idea "internally." Citing multiple NFL GMs, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora has suggested Tebow might bring back no more than a fifth-round pick as compensation. If so, several teams should be interested, and owner Shad Khan's fondness of Tebow dates back to 2010. The Jets and Jaguars appear to be Tebow's likeliest suitors at this point in time. The Broncos didn't plan to drive a hard bargain, but they could as interest begins to swell. In Jacksonville, it's believed Tebow would start out only as a third-stringer and Wildcat option.

He is 1-1 in the playoffs as a first year starter. Are we separating playoffs from over all record? Was the expectation as a first year starter a superbowl?

he is 8-5 as a starting QB in the NFL last year with a team that was the worst in the league in the previous 31 games before he took over.

That is an actual fact. You can hate on him all you want but you can not change what actually happened.

You know what the real problem with the current Jets management team is? They do absolutely silly stuff on such a regular basis that they're defenseless when a situation like this pops up.

Even if they weren't at all interested in Tim Tebow any rumor that made the rounds that they were would be instantly credible. Because the Jets do jump at whatever is in the wind whenever it blows. The Asomugha circus last year just kind of confirmed that rationality and logic have no adherents in the Jets management suite.

Sanchez 2-1 in the playoffs as a first-year starter AND rookie.
Sanchez 2-1 in the playoffs as a second-year starter/second-year player (as Tebow was). Both wins came against Manning and Brady on the road.

    Who would you rather have?

Contracts with big base salaries are designed to be restructured if required. It gives the team flexibility to take a cap hit when it suits them and to have more than one chance to take that decision. It's not by chance.

Who would you rather have-- a player that blesses Jesus, or a player with the blessing of Revis?

Aso was slightly crazy because of tying up all the cap space at cb. But he was considered at least the second best cb in football. Where is Tebow in the qb rankings? 15 at best, 30th at worst?

Still if we can dump cap and get him for peanuts i am all for it.

He barely won a game at HOME, vs a team with a completley crippled QB. Should I be impressed ?

The Jets succeeded in the playoffs because of Mark Sanchez in spite of the defense.

Legitimizing trolls only makes them troll harder.

To paraphrase Dwight Schrute: "Trolls are like raccoons. You give them a taste of cat food and pretty soon they're back for the whole cat."

By restructuring contracts, you just delay paying the money on that contract unless you pay it out as some kind of roster/workout/etc. bonus. Sure, it frees up the cap space in that particular year but the money is still on the books. If you restructure too many contracts, you run into salary cap problems down the road and end up having very little space. It creates problems managing a team and it's depth(like what happened with the Jets this year).
