then maybe that was what I read and "mis-remembered" as Clemens would say.

Manning did it for the money! I hate to say it, he's a great player, but it's true. Why would he choose Denver over the 49ers? Defensively they aren't even close. Poor offensive lines on both teams. His best chance to win a championship was with them. They'd be like the Colts, but with an actual legitimate defense, plus better receivers for the most part, they even picked up Manningham and Moss. Money > winning a championship, I suppose. 49ers are fucked if Alex Smith signs somewhere else.

he didn't go to some shit team. he went to a team with a lot of good young talent that won the division and a playoff game without a QB.

Manning with that team can easily win 12-13 games. the difference between that and what the 49ers may do is negligible. he has a shot to win a Super Bowl in Denver and make a shit load of money. why would he pass that up just for a chance to win a Super Bowl but make less money. the 49ers weren't a lock to win it, so why should Manning believe he can't win a Super Bowl in Denver and missed some great opportunity with the 49ers. if he is as good as he thinks he is then why shouldn't he believe he will be as much a difference maker in Denver as he would be in San Fran?

the choice was between good team and money or good team and no money. why would he choose the latter?

there were always rumblings that he wanted to stay in the afc. i think the niners were the only nfc team that he was connected to.

also, the niners ran a very specific kind of offense last year. pretty much the complete opposite of what peyton would want to run. after what they did with tebow, you know that fox will give peyton complete freedom to do whatever he wants.

harbaugh might be too overbearing for a guy like peyton too.

The niners are clearly the better team. An elite QB would easily put them over the hump. They were 13-3 last year with Alex Smith!!! While the Broncos were 8-8. Playoff caliber? Yeah right. One lucky OT pass after several Steelers attempts to hand them the game on silver platter. If I were Manning, I'd pick the team with the best chances to win. Broncos are not that team. Not that manning can't turn them around and make them a contender, he obviously can, but it's not the best chance of winning a bowl. He sacrificed that for the money. I do think Manning would get to run the offense his way in San Fran. Any coach would be stupid not to let him, but Gore is running out of gas, he can't carry the offense himself anymore.

It's funny that this Tim Tebow nonsense is getting more media attention than Manning, one of the greatest to ever play the game. I really hate the media with a passion right now. This is site is ruined. I can't read any threads without having to skip the 10+ in the Jets section just created today. GANGGREEN NEEDS A PRESS CONFERENCE!!!!

Per NFL.com, Denver Broncos 2012 opponents.

Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Away: Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers

Peyton gets the AFC North, should be fun to see him vs. those defense.
Houston can't escape Manning, get him at Denver.
Peyton vs Brees should be fun.
You can bet Peyton/Brady will be a primetime game.

History shows QBs don't do well being with one team their whole career then heading somewhere else. Think Farve, Montana. I think manning can be different. They can build a team around him with that cap too.
