It's always been money and the chance to play that brought free agents to the Jets. That's true for everybody but LaDainian Tomlinson who I think really thought his best shot at a ring was here.

The Jets are never going to get players to come here because they want to play for Rex Ryan unless those players have played for Rex Ryan in the past and they don't have a lot of other options.

If the Jets start to look like a dynasty then things could change but they have to do that first.

The Ravens were trying to resign Scott. They dropped out when it was clear the Jets were really going after him and he was talking about playing for Ryan.

I don't recall the specifics on Burress, but are you also saying that was all BS about people wanting to play for Ryan?

I'm not saying that, I remember there was a poll of NFL players saying that the Jets were the team they'd most want to play for. I don't think that means they'd take less money though. Most players will take the most money they can get and they're smart to do so.

The Jets overpaid for Scott, we didn't get any discount. Burress got over $3 million ($3,017,000) if I remember correctly. I don't recall hearing anyone else making a better offer.

The Jets went to the AFCCG in 09 and 10 and had one of the best D's in the league, of course there was increased hype and interest from free agents. Last season they went 8-8 and missed the playoffs and Rex lost some shine by losing control of the lockerroom. Now there's less hype and perhaps the Jets lost a bit of their draw. It is what it is - not a big deal. As others have said, money is still the bottom line, and besides, this is still a desirable market to come to and the team has plenty of talent in place.

First off the fact that you used the terms "yets" means you're not a Jets fan, probably a Pats fan from your apparent obsession.

Again with avoiding my question. That bold part is the winner right there. So you have no real evidence that free agents don't want to come here. All you have is the word of the crystal ball you have between your legs whispering sweet-nothings in your ear. Ok, gotcha.

First of all genius I know all teams have their own free agents. I was talking about the quantity the Pats have this year, reading comprehension. Gallery sucks by any estimation, if he didn't this wouldn't be his third team. If he didn't the Pats would have signed him for more years and not as a backup. There is no telling whether or not he will even be on their roster come opening day. Perspective is a wonderful thing.

    Are you Mr. T?

Once again, absolutely nothing to do with what I said. You keep changing your arguments. And we are talking about depth signings, get a grip.

I would say Landry and resigning Pouha are pretty significant. Plus it is only week 1 of free agency and the draft is a month away.

Nothing to do with the statement you were replying to (again). You, nor I, have any idea if any of these "reward side players" for the Pats are any better than the ones the Jets signed. I know you as a Pats fan really really want that to be the cause, but you have no idea at this moment.

READ WHAT I WROTE! I never said Cumberland has done anything in the NFL. I said he looked to be a good all around TE before he got hurt and is coming off the IR. Which many Jets fans would agree with. Knowing this fact, signing another TE might not be a priority for the FO (probably going to draft one in the later rounds).

Is reading really that difficult? I never said "all" I said mostly. The Pats signings mostly were short (1-2 years) and wouldn't hurt the cap if they got cut in training camp. Yes these signings are meaningless until they make the opening day roster. These are the type of signings the Pats are known for, so I have no idea why your panties are in a bunch. I'm sorry if you thought I was slighting your Pats, I wasn't.

Do we really have to resort to incoherent ramblings? It's obvious you're a Pats fan, I get it. But before you post remember to take your Prozac and calm down.

Ummm...No I didn't. I never claimed you said anything. I said I heard the same thing about the Pats last year when they signed Ocho and Haynesworth. You might want to calm down, I can barely understand what the hell you are writing anymore.

Last two years: "Everybody wants to play for Ryan! They would take less money to do so, just because the Jets are so awesome!"

This year: "Nobody is talking about coming to the Jets for less because no one ever really does that!"

Now, it is a perfectly plausible positoin to take that no one, perhaps no one other than LT, really came to the Jets before last year for less than they could have gotten elsewhere. But then, other than for LT, I guess that has to mean the Jets really were not a draw, despite several posters here and elsewhere saying that was exactly what hte Jets were.

And now, after last year, and after the Jets have doubled down on Mark Sanchez, when people question whether anyone really wants to play for the Jets who could go elsewhere, the answer is people ONLY go where they get paid the most.

I see a difference even if some here don't.

Point at the guys who played cheap to play with Rex in '09 and '10. I see only LT and Pryce and they both did it for the same reason.

The reason in LT's case was, and he was quoted, that he thought that Ryan and the Jets gave him the best shot at going to the SB.

Well, that was then, and now is now. Oh well.

damn, you make claims, then claim otherwise. go figure. you're the one that claimed cumberland to be something, then backoff it when called on it. same with many other points. you wanted me to name someone that wanted nothing to do with the jets, i gave you manning and i'm sure there are others. you just don't want to admit to anything that isn't pro jets.

    pats fan, no!

and whats with your obsession of reach arounds and between someones legs, how about leaving the perve thoughts at home and out of this forum.

i would suggest therapy, you seem to have issues with your manhood!

The three most important things to any free agent when looking at a team are (in order):

    1. his salary;
    2. how much he is going to get paid; and
    3. the financial remuneration package.
