I understand we desperately need a safety, but everybody here has to stop making this into something it isnt. Just because he didnt sign here, doesnt mean Tanny lowballed him. We’ve all seen what overpaying FA does to a team and how it can cripple them in the future, and maybe for once Tanny realized that. Everybody is bitching about how we didnt offer him what he wanted, but what he wanted was probably too much for his value and would not have been a smart move.
It's more than Reggie Nelson. They have not drafted a safety in, count em, FIVE drafts. Then they traded Lowery who went on to be an above average FS. The front office has their heads up their ass. Where is the pass rush? There were two pass plays > 40 yards in the entire '11 season. Where is the speed on WR to stretch the field (and don't give me this Shillenz BS)? Who do we have at RT? Why do you think Williams went to Buffalo, 2 games against Wayne Hunter and Vlad Ducasse. He'll make the pro bowl with 3 sacks a game against those 2. Shoot, Carter had 4 in one game for the Pats last year. Who the hell is going to cover TEs on this team? I expect a press conference tomorrow firing the entire front office.
Jenny Vrentas @JennyVrentas RT @joereedy: Per league source, Reggie Nelson will earn $6.5 million in the first year of his four-year, $18 million deal with #bengals
$6.5 million is WAYYYY too much. Figures that a scarce position in Free Agency would drive up the price of the limited available talent... Sucks that scarce position happens to be the biggest need for the Jets...
lol who were the posters who said he stayed in Cincy because our organization was too toxic? All about the $
it's frontloaded for 6.5 million year 1 so it's 11.5 over the remaining 3? not bad...we just didn't have the cap space to frontload the deal
The $6.5M is a good explanation to present at the draft pick by draft pick, transaction by transaction detailed look back assessment press conference. Has is it been scheduled yet? The conference should start with Vernon Gholston and go through the Landry signing.
