How many outside linebackers that would've made an impact were available in free agency? How about right tackle? Wide receiver? If he overpaid a mediocre player he'd be pissed, now he passes on mediocre players that were getting too much money, and you're pissed. Next it's "well it's his job to get creative and make it happen" and then we'll kill him about how he uses the draft to trade for established guys like Thomas Jones, Cromartie, Braylon and Santonio.

We signed and OLB and have been trying to sign a safety. Nelson choosing his current team who had 5x as much cap space shouldn't be a fault on Tanny.

I don't understand why we didn't hear about the Jets having interest in Winston - seems like they're serious about being satisfied with Hunter/Ducasse or plan on taking a tackle in the draft. Seems risky either way.

As for WR, it seems like they're trying to go the cheap, low risk/high reward route at WR2. They may be thinking WR early too.

That is the biggest puzzler for me. They made some breathing room for the cap and then started shopping Hunter. Not that they'd get anything for him but it would indicate that they had some other plan in mind. Unless the pull a trade for a starting caliber RT and solve the riddle of why no real money is being spent, the entire offseason has been full of self-contradicting moves at the RT position.

We didn't hear about them going in on Winston b/c there is NO ACCOUNTABILITY. They will not admit the obvious mistake in taking Ducasse.

Did you read my post before you posted yours? I specifically said that the OLB position should be filled with a high draft pick.

I appreciate the relevance of the notion that there may not be all that much available talent here and there in FA. But if the question is how good has Tanny been at putting together this roster, that's not much of a defense. The point is that the Jets have a number of areas where they could be goind better, but as they entered this off season, the most critical level of need is at starter, and there were four clear positions in need of being filled.

You can't expect to get four starters out of the draft, ready for opening day. You'd be lucky to get two.

So, the weak options available in FA doesn't really excuse the way Tanny has run the team. It's his team that needed four starters.

The Jets/Tanny have admitted bigger mistakes than a 2nd round project pick not working out. Ducasse gets to the end of his contract to get it because he's cheap with loads of physical talent. I can give plenty of examples of the Jets admitting mistakes through there actions. People saying they won't admit mistakes need to give some real examples.

That doesn't mean they should plan on him getting it this year though.

We are no longer a team that players want to play for. Our coach is a bafoon and our team is a bunch of big mouths that the rest of the NFL laughs at. We are stuck with the 3 Amigos ( Tanny, Rex and Mex) for the next few years before Woody starts over again. The best of time was the first 2 years, its time you youngsters find out what being a Jet fan means. Who's gonna be hear in 2015????

The pre-rex drafts were good, other than Gholston.

The Rex drafts have been average to possibly bad. I still have hope/faith that guys like Wilson, Ducasse, etc will work out but...

Do you guys think Tanny is really making most of the football decisions (IE: Who to draft/who to cut?) or is he relying on input from others? IIRC, the scouts, coach Ryan and who-ever else tries to come to a consensus, and Tanny/Woody break ties/step in if there is no consensus.

I just wish they'd replace hunter already. Arrg.

Tannenshit makes all the decisions..period. He may take input and then does just what he wants to do..he gave Rex one pick two years ago and he used it to take Connor.

Jesus, man, calm down. It's not the end of the world. We knew Ducasse would be a project when we drafted him. You obviously don't realize that every draft pick is essentially a gamble. More often than not it has paid off for Tanny, when you look at the fact that most of our best players were drafted.

TANNY'S SHOULD BE PSYCHIC! HE'S TERRIBLE FOR NOT KNOWING AHEAD OF TIME THAT GHOLSTON WOULD BE A BUST. SKY IS FALLING! NOOOOOOOOO!

Get a grip people. It's not the end of the world because we missed out on ONE safety this year in FA. The extremist pessimism on this site is ridiculous. One guy isn't going to make or break our team.

TE danial fells; excellent blocker from the bronco's. their other signings (depth) are exactly what the jets need but players aren't wanting to come to the jets. trevor scott is a decent backup, same as gonzalez and the others.
ad loyd with brady throwing to him and thats a better team! pats doing what needs to be done, jets are dysfunction junction and as we've seen, none of the FA players want to come to the jets!

Who are all these players that don't want to come to the Jets? Please name them. Nelson? He was re-signed by his original team that had alot more cap space than we do.

The Pats also have alot of roster spots to fill having around 20 free agents. Signing for depth is exactly what the Jets FO is doing at the moment with all these WRs they are bringing in that are low risk/high reward type guys.

Dude! One guy turned us down! That clearly means everyone will and nobody wants to play for the Jets!

Man, I don't get how so many people can live their entire lives based on negativity. It's crazy!

It's not so much about negativity as it is about being completely reactionary and illogical.

we did well after tuna was gone, using his leftovers. no one witha real brain thought bradway was a genius. ditto with tanny, using guys that mangini picked.

let the cap ' genius' do just that, and bring in a real football guy to actually shop for the groceries. tanny can just sign the checks.:)

I have to hope & pray that the Jets are convinced Duccasse and Hunter will perform better in a Sparano Scheme.

You're still hoping that Wilson might work out? Do you really think that he hasn't already worked out?
