They signed Mario and then he tore his achilles stepping off the stage?

Really? You might want to tell that to the Saints. I believe that Drew Brees was the "1 big player" of 2006 FA, and he worked out pretty well for them.

There are lots of ways to gain success in the NFL. GB and Pitt "grow their own" but NE tends to pick up key FAs as they need them.

The Bills needed a premier pass rusher, and the DE crop in this year's draft has no Von Millers. They have two excellent DTs in Kyle Williams and Marcell Dareus. With Super Mario, they now have a great DL since their LDE, Chris Kelsay, is average. A good pass rush makes everybody behind it much better.

that simply isn't true and saying it aloud to try and convince yourself that this signing doesn't improve the Bills doesn't make it so.

the key is signing the right players, not just going after the big name. just because the Redskins suck at it doesn't change the fact that plenty of teams have done it well, whether it was Green Bay signing Reggie White or, as mentioned, the Saints signing Drew Brees. sure, these players didn't change their teams all by themselves but they don't reflect your assertion -- that a big signing equates to a team not able to then succeed.

This is a good signing for the Bills. They had the money and it creates a dominant D line which can then cover for some of the other deficiencies of the D. to try and spin it any other way I think reflects how worried Jets fans are at how much better this makes the Bills despite their other weaknesses.

Yea Kyle Williams and Eric Wood wouldn't start on any team in the NFL besides Buffalo.

Are there any intelligent Jets fans out there that wanna talk real football.........these guys make my head hurt!

News just in. Sanchez has retired due to a "concern of his health and safety"

Now Upshaw shouldn't be headed to Buffalo.

Funny how you cite 2 examples in how many years of free agency as years why it is so great. Also signing Brees Signing a player like Williams is a great signing if it puts your team over the top. The Bills still have plenty of holes on their team. Also, if there were a player at quaterback that were available like Brees, it would be a whole different story because this league is set up so quarterbacks win.

I don't believe I said big signings don't help teams, I said the teams that win free agency typically never are the team to win the SuperBowl. Look at the Giants last year, the Packers, Saints, Steelers, Giants. All of those teams drafted well and had timely free agent signings rather than a huge one (sans Drew Brees for the Saints).

If the Bills think they are a pash rusher away from the Super Bowl then so be it. I see a team with more holes than 1 from being elite.

An overrated team waiting to get their faces kicked in by the Jets.

Nice signing, congrats. All the bills have to pray for is that their OL remains healthy...

I cited only two examples because the argument doesn't merit wasting anymore time on it. not to mention, nobody is claiming that the Bills "won free agency" with this signing so that argument doesn't hold any water either. all that is being said is this is a good player that makes them better. you have then tried to rationalize that as "winning free agency" so you can pretend it won't help them.

and the Saints sucked before signing Brees, it isn't as if he was the obvious missing piece.

Im sorry but If I have to hear how good the D-Line is gonna be now with Super Mario, Dareus and KYLE WILLIAMS I'm gonna puke. Mario is the real deal, nice signing. Dareus had a good rookie year and is going to be a beast.

But Kyle Williams is extremely overrated. This is a common Buffalo problem ever since the superbowl era team has left there hasn't been much talent and so when a guy has a few good games / one decent season he's suddenly AMAZING just because he's the best player on your shitty team. Similar examples include (Evans, Lee, Clements, Nate Etc. etc.)

I bet Nick Mangold isn't struggling to sleep at night because he's worried about having to block KYLE williams... especially because he's owned his ass everytime they've played.

I will say that Your FO is finally realizing that guys like kyle williams aren't guys you build around and then let go when they can't carry the load, rather can be nice role players for the real talent that should be brought in. (Mario, Dareus)
