I was never a fan of Gholston. Did I hold out hope that he would pan out? Sure. But I thought we should have traded back in that draft. It would have allowed us to take Keller with the extra pick, instead of giving up a 2nd and a 4th to get him and then missing out on Rice and Forte. BTW, comparing Freeney in any way to Gholston is laughable. Maybe he wouldn't be as effective in a 3-4, but by your logic, Gholston would be a star as a 4-3 DE?
Why would he restructure for us when he wouldn't do it for Indy? It's not like he asked to be traded.
I'd trade Terry Bradway to Indy to help get them started on their rebuild. Freeney would look really good to me under those circumstances.
He's from CT... so the combination of finishing his career playing for a good team close to home might be enough to convince him, but who knows. Ok fair enough. You're probably right but the Gholston comparison was still not great. It's not that I don't think he COULD make the switch, but the more I read about this situation it seems like he wants no part of a 3-4 (DE or LB)
Colts are definitely in sell mode, but I think we're barking up the wrong tree here. What would it take to pry Bethea away from Indy? Would you guys give up a second for him? A third?
Rex doesn't play straight up 3-4..no one said the Jets can't throw in some 4-3 looks with Freeney/Maybin at the bookends, Dixon/Pouha & Wilkerson inside. If Freeney gets released, let the market play itself out. Once he realizes he can't get 8 million a season anymore..the jets should make him a reasonable offer.
It'd be a lot more fun to re-sign Pouha, draft Poe and dream about 3-4 lineups with MoWilk, Pouha and Poe with their hands on the ground and Maybin and Pace lined up opposite each other with Poe keeping the tackles and guards off of Maybin. Turn that into Poe, Ellis and MoWilk switching to the right side in a year and it looks downright scary. Not sure I've seen that much quickness in a Jets front ever and certainly not at that size.
Incarcerated Bob @incarceratedbob **BREAKING NFL NEWS**Source: NY Jets & Indy Colts have been discussing a possible Dwight Freeney swap (Talks really heated up L16Hours)
Freeney has made it clear he won't play in 3-4 at OLB. Waste of a thread. You need a better source, this guy is a tool. He's right about 28% of the time. Zero credibility.
Jets could consider going that route if Poe is sitting there at #16 and there are no other pass rushers available. Poe has freakish physical skills but I think he needs to learn better leverage and pad level.A year subbing in would serve him good. I think we'd likely see Poe as the rotational guy & Ellis as more of a full time player year 1. Poe/Wilk/Ellis with Pouha transitioning to a rotational role as he gets older would be dominant. This would force teams to go spread on offense which gets the tight ends off the field & lets those 3 corners do their thing.
wouldnt say he has zero credibility. broke the revis signing and i listened to his podcast a couple weeks ago and adam shefter thought enough of him to come on. that being said i wonder if bart scott is involved in this potential deal. pagano was a ravens assistant on rexs defense in 08 which scott was a part of. he also runs a similar d to rex and may want to bring in scott to help the adjustment similar to the way we brought in scott with leonhard and marques douglas in 09.
The only good thing incarcerated Bob ever did was kick that shit out of that Patriots fans at Super Bowl 42. I wouldnt mind if he got incarcerated again for assault, because all bob does is spread rumors that have no credibility.
