http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/10945/updates-on-pouha-hunter Glad to hear we plan on bringing Pouha back, but uhmm signing a 33 year old NT to a long term contract ? I hope its back loaded and we can easily cut him after 2 years If Tanny can actually get a team to GIVE us something for Hunter, hes going to look brilliant. As a matter of fact I know of a team in our division who is kinda cap strapped, and desperately needs a RT. I know normally you don't trade beasts like him within the division, but nobody wants to see Peyton get hurt when he takes his talents to south beach.
Haha I love Tannenbaum's kiss of death "we expect him back". Doubt anyone is interested in him, he'll probably be back, hopefully better in a man blocking scheme. As for Pouha, get it done. Guy is good at what he does.
So Tannenbaum could have cut Hunter A FUCKING MONTH AGO; and he PASSED that chance - now he's shopping that road pylon? What's the logic behind that? He sure looks like the genius that many here praise him to be.
Tanny was 'forced' to sign hunter last month as an insurance policy against something he's been working on behind the scenes, just in case it falls through. Apparently whatever Tanny is working on is looking far more promising now than it looked a month ago so bye bye Hunter. edit: or how about this: Tanny to Manning: "Peyton, ma man, any chance you'd come play for the Jets?" Manning: "I'd fucking LOVE too! Is there any chance you guys could 'lose' Wayne Turnstile Hunter???? Tanny: "Consider it done".
I won't lie,,,,,,I only pray that this is true',,,,,,,but WE MUST remember who wrote this article..........Cimini wrote it so it quite possibly is total BS
Exactly but as you see most people here just love Tannenshit..he can't even make good trades or good contracts anymore and he still has a job...just amazing.
I can't imagine someone would trade for hunter. How is this possible? If tanny pulls of a trade he is a genius. Only thing is who plays right tackle for us then. Hopefully he has a bother trade to land a rt because the free agent pools is weak. I expected the jets to address this in the draft but do we really want to go into the draft with ducasse as our only option for right tackle.
This is a bigger joke than letting Hunter's option activate in the first place. What idiot team would give the Jets anything for one of the worst tackles in the league? This is so stupid.
It's not puzzling at all. Zach is confused as to why Tanny guaranteed Hunter's salary if he was going to get rid of him. If someone trades for him and gives him a reduced contract, we are on the hook for the remainder, so unless someone thinks Hunter is worth a draft pick in a trade AND $2.45m this year, we will have cap money allocated to a crap right tackle who isn't even on the team. And he could have been cut. If I've misread stuff on here and am fundamentally wrong about any of this, I'll hold up my hand and apologise, but I think Zach has a legitimate gripe and I share it.
Yeah I think you're right. For some reason I thought that there was still a bailout if he couldn't get traded by renegotiating the contract or something. I guess it isn't the case. Apologies. Still to some extent, they may have felt like their hands were tied with Hunter with the super weak FA class and pressing needs elsewhere for the 1st and maybe 2nd rounds. Another thing to consider is that with this weak an RT FA class Tanny's idea of trading him at 2.5M might not be all that crazy. http://nyjetscap.com/2012_Articles/hunterguar.php Breno Giacomini signed to 2yr/$6M deal. Tanny's full plan for this offseason isn't even close to being developed yet and I'm not ready to concede too much criticism to his first major move just yet. Maybe I'm a dreamer, guess we'll find out.
Big picture my ass. What big picture? Gigantic mutant shit on offense? Check. Defense, with all the talent in the world, still dysfunctional (Mangini era) - check. Now the defense lacking overall speed in the front seven - check. NO PRESSURE DEFENSE - CHECK! CHECK! CHECK! Now I see it. Are you trying to tell me some team bullied, or worse yet, fooled Tannenbaum into guaranteeing Wayne Hunter's salary? Is that it? Really? Do you want that kind of man running your team? Really? Nice job, son. So now you are saying Tannenbaum guaranteed the salary of a fringe player that will either have reduced role or worse yet, dispatched. Am I reading this right? Are you telling me this man is doing all these stupid things AND he is a smart man? Are you high? I didn't even mention Schottenheimer, did I? Where? (And retaining Schottenheimer was a major mistake too, whether you agree or not.) Frankly, I didn't give a fuck to read this block of bullshit. Chances are they make no sense anyway. Team depth? Lack of production from the front seven? Lack of overall team speed? How about lack of deep threat? Should I go on? Just what game did you watch last season, son? And he did that at the expense of team depth and weak trench players on BOTH sides of the ball. For two years Jets were incredibly lucky in the injury department, but when it hit, it hit hard. Turner went out for the season, then Mangold sprained ankle. Of course Callahan fucked up royally there too, as no one knew the line call when Turner and Mangold had to leave (which in itself is an extraordinary circumstances) but all in all, the lack of team depth at basically every department is so glaring that if you fail to see, I would seriously recommend you to have your eyes examined - you may be legally blind. If you don't understand what has gone wrong with Wayne Hunter situation, I don't know what to tell you.
I.Was.Wrong. about Wayne Hunter's contract. Somebody said that if he was kept on they still could have renegotiated or something at the time and like an idiot I believed what I read. As to the rest...Plaxico was a shit acquisition. Went belly-up. Ruined deep threat. LB corps getting older and caught up a year sooner than anyone would've liked. Mangold going down hurt a lot and Hunter being pathetic was basically unforeseeable after he performed so well in the playoffs the year before. This team is building. Tanny clearly got saddled with Schottenheimer due to politics and general circumstance especially after '09, '10. He got rid of him at first opportunity, and I don't know about you but I'm thankful about that. Frankly, I think that move alone is going to take the offense from bottom of the league to at least middle of the road in itself. I guess you have no faith in the teams ability to upgrade its areas of need and put together the best roster that it can. We're not hurting for stars anymore. We're hurting for depth. Starting this year I predict Tanny is going to be loading the roster for depth and your detractions will become invalidated. Guess we have the fun of waiting and finding out.
