Not to nitpick, but I kind of have a problem with giving up a pick, albeit a 5th rounder, for a guy with two points over the course of two seasons...
Fuck Sather. Yeah you don't want to mortage too much of the "future" but for once you have a team that can make some noise, do something!! I cannot believe they couldn't add some scoring depth.
In the NHL, the odds of a 5th rounder turning into an NHL player is probably like 5% if that. Anyway, I'm glad that the Rangers didn't make any big trades. Teams were asking for way too much this year. The rumors about what teams were asking for was outrageous. I've been watching TSN all day, the rumors out there for what teams wanted were preposterous. Teams wanted top prospects like Kreider or players like Del Zotto, Stepan, McDonaugh, etc from the Rangers plus high picks. No way that's happening.
And if they don't win this year Hank gets a year older, and Sather sits around still trying to produce any worthwhile draft picks besides Dmen and grinders. Bullshit. You have a team playing this well, and a goalie playing like Hank you go for it. Or do way more then the fucking retard did today. Prospects don't mean shit until they are producing.
There is no doubt that Glen Sather lusted to bring Rick Nash to New York, but when the Rangers’ general manager stuck to his guns in resisting Columbus’ demands that the package in return would have to include either Ryan McDonagh or Michael Del Zotto plus either Derek Stepan or Carl Hagelin, plus Boston College winger Chris Kreider and Brandon Dubinsky, talks that went to the wire on Monday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline ultimately went nowhere. Columbus GM Scott Howson rejected what is believed a Rangers' final offer of Dubinsky, 21-year-old defenseman Tim Erixon, 2011 first-rounder J.T. Miller, 2010 second-rounder Christian Thomas and a first-round selection in this June's Entry Draft. _______ bahhahaha Scott Howson is stupid
If that's legitimately the offer that Sather sent over, holy shit. I'm really surprised Howson didn't accept. Kind of glad he didn't but man that's a huge offer
