The law firm would be a good fit for the Jets imo. Normally I would question bringing anyone in from NE.
Green Ellis has next to no ability to break a big run and isn't very good in the passing game. I'd rather see the money go elsewhere.
Id like to see Law firm here. He doesn't fumble and he runs hard. Have him start and soften up the D for Greene. If the price is right I'd be happy. I dont think he would cost too much.
NE already said they want him back, and the guy got 1.4% snaps more than Woodhead, this guy is ridic overrated, and unless we got him for the min would be a terrible signing
BJEG is what he is, and average-to-above average NFL RB. He will never be a superstar but he is extremely dependable and runs very hard. He hits the hole quickly and runs north and south (none of that side-stepping crap that Maroney always used to pull). He does not have the speed to break off 40-50 yard runs. I hope the Pats end up resigning him as I would hate for him to end up on the Jets.
I think hes a system back with little to no playmaking ability, and doesnt fumble because under belicheats ironfist nobody turns itover on the whole offense. Soon as hes off NE im completley certain he will be a unianimously below avg halfback. The fact he was on the field as often as that goated midget should be telling
Now someone has it right. Benson would be the best overall value I think. Michael Bush is younger and may come cheap as well. Kevin Smith may make sense as well but the key is to find someone who is a good value.
Are you just making things up as you go? BJEG had 181 rushing attempts last year, to Woodheads 77. And if you are going on total snaps, do you know how many times Woodhead linned up in the slot or was going in motion as a single back set? That is truly a horrible comparison.
I actually agree with your first paragraph. I think BJGE is an average at best running back who's plays better because of the system he's in. His first year starting he put up a 4.4 avg (respectable), and last year he was pretty subpar at 3.7 avg. Did teams maybe get better game film on him? Was he hurt? Not sure. He has almost no playmaking ability. His longest run two years ago was 33 yards and last year it was 18 yards. All of that isn't to slight BJGE, more so that the Jets need a different style of RB in my opinion. We need more of a playmaking back that can rip off some nice runs (T-Rich maybe?), and then have Greene do what he does best; wear down defenders. I'm a huge Tolbert fan, and would love to sign someone like him. With no LT, a quick, elusive back who can catch out of the backfield would be a big plus.
Number of snaps is totally useless in your comparison. Woodhead was used a totally different way than BJEG. If your arguement had any validity, then Woodhead would have had the same nuber of carries. Again, a ridiculous comparison.
NE passes a lot more than they run, so it would make sense that they use a scatback almost as often as a traditional RB. That's not a knock on BJE at all. While he doesn't have much break away speed he's a hard, downhill runner who always keeps his legs churning for extra yards and is deceivingly shifty with quick little moves. Much like Woodhead was a WAY better fit for the NE offense than for ours, BJE would probably be a much better fit for our offense than for the Pats.
