I wanted Hillis before Denver traded him, now I am not so sure he's worth the price tag he'll be looking for. I'd take Law Firm in a second, though.
Before the 2011 season I would have loved to have Hillis. Last year scared me a little. I liked how he ran hard but was also great out of the backfield in the passing game. I think he can come back from what happened last season and turn it around though. I totally agree with you about Green-Ellis. He would be my #1 target for two reasons. 1 - we would take him away from New England and 2 - he's a strong powerful runner who doesn't fumble.

Why are none of the Jets backs aside from Greene capable of being given 200 carries when push comes to shove and the Jets need some carries on the ground? Benjarvus Green-Ellis, a UDFA, has taken 400 carries for the Pats the last two seasons. Fred Jackson, a UDFA, has taken 529 carries for the Bills the last 3 seasons. Ahmad Bradshaw, a 7th round pick, has taken 610 carries for the Giants the last 3 seasons. Brandon Jacobs, a 4th round pick, has taken 900+ carries for the Giants the last 5 seasons. Ryan Grant, a UDFA, took 900+ carries for the Packers in his first 3 seasons with them. What is so wrong with the Jets talent evaluation and player development process that they can't find cheap talent at the easiest position in football to do so? Freaking Danny Woodhead couldn't get on the field here and he went over to the Pats and became a big contributor. The Jets haven't been able to draft a runningback that turned into anything good in like 2 decades. What's up with that?

The guys you mentioned carries their rookie year: Green-Ellis: 74 Fred Jackson: 58 Ahmad Bradshaw: 23 Brandon Jacobs: 38 Ryan Grant: 188 And again, going back to the same argument in the draft forum, who cares how these guys are acquired? The Jets got Thomas Jones for a 2nd round pick. That's using the draft to get a running back that was good, is it not?
Tolbert and Hillis too expensive, law firm isn't that good. IMHO our two best FA options by far Cedrick Benson (work horse, expected to come quite cheap 2m/yr) Kevin Smith, absolute beast, sits behind Morris and Jahvid Best on depth chart
He runs hard, is good at picking up his pass blocking assignments, and has never fumbled. I'm not all for signing him, becasue with our current cap situation we have bigger needs, but I think your under rating what he brings to a team.
Pats hbs are always overatted, and benefit immensely from Brady. Mahoney, Woodhead anyone who plays in that backfield looks great since teams are going all out defense against the pass. Last thing id want is to overpay for their merry rejects
