$7.5 Million in cap relief is a lot. They need to re-work some more contracts, but this is a good start.
this seems good as I read we had the 5th least cap space prior to this. I have no problem with restructuring someone like Ferguson who you have to expect to play out his contract - its only really an issue when they do it with aging players (like Pace and Scott) that are on the decline but impossible to cut.
Onew thing e never need to worry about is the cap, Tannenbaum and his staff have always proven they know how to work the cap.
Could not agree more. We have never had serious issues while he has been here. No matter how grim, he always manages to pull one out each year and not have us in a position where we are not in dire straits.
We have a 8 million rollover from last year, and now an additional 7.5 million raising it to 15.5 million. I really hope we distribute this over few players and not chase one only.
I'm curious how much money we'll spend on Pouha. That will tell us how much money we can actually spend on FAs...
Pfft. We are going Aso in free-agency and Ditka in the draft. I expect Andrew Luck and Mario Williams on the team by September.
I could be wrong, but a lot of what I read stated that our cap space included the 8 million from last year. There were several articles earlier the week about how the Jets are only like 550k under the cap with the money from last year. I think we only have the 7.5 million available, which is still pretty good.
Okay I knew we had little cap room before and I was under the assumption that the 8 million or so from last year added onto the 550k under. Hopefully someone can come in and clarify.
Nice to see he's willing to do so. Not that Brick is leaving money on the table but it's helpful to the team at least.
Wonder who the Jets will be gunning for this off-season. Brees and the saints are trying to reach a deal so they can franchise Nicks, so he may be off the table.
There are several team (I gave a list a few weeks ago) that spend as little as possible on player and have tens of millions to spend (but don't) every year. Tanny with Woddy's blessing spends right to the max every year, getting as much talent as possible. The down side to 'living at the ceiling' is every year we deal with very little extra cap space to toss around. But that's where Tanny makes his name and living. I'd rather deal with 'little cap space' then '$20 mil' that the owners never want to spend.
