Somebody needs to tell the Phins players the NFL season starts right after Labor Day and not right after Halloween.
Who plays OLB for them? Who is there DT? Soliai is a good fit for NT if they re-sign him but who's next to him? Where do Starks and Langford fit in? Does Wake fit at 4-3 DE in the NFL? I see a lot more questions than answers in there front 7 personnel.
anything could happen. but i'm certainly not seeing that. I was a disappointed as anyone this year, but lets not forget that we were what,1 win from the playoffs and had we won a game like Denver we may have been there? A pass rusher and a piece added to the Oline and i'm not all too worried about 12
They can, in theory. I don't see it happening though. Not sure about the use of "bounce back", wouldn't they have to have been good immediately prior to being bad for that to apply? Last time they didn't have a losing season was 2008.
Absolutely they can. There are some talented players on that team, and if they improve the QB position and we don't (and by that I mean Sanchez doesn't improve), then they can definitely overtake us. Buffalo is probably too far off, but they even have a couple guys who can play. Jets have a lot of holes to fill, we lost some big players lately and we haven't replaced a good chunk of them.
Who did we lose recently that made a big difference? I can think of Woody and that's about it. edit: to answer OP - i think that Miami will be challenging for the 2nd spot but i think the loss of Nolan will be at least as big as the gain of Philbin so it will be an interesting season.
We lost a lot of role players and replaced them with bench players. We need to get role players back and get Jets swagger back. We did only go 8-8 some people act like we were 4-12. I think I remember the Steelers were 8-8 in 2007 and won the Superbowl the next season.
The Dolphins do have talent and I would not be shocked to see them do better than the Jets next year. Really hard to say what these teams are going to look like on opening day.
Absolutely they could. I could see it happening soon, too. I'd hate for it to happen, but who knows? Every dog gets their day.
There's no team in the AFC East right now that could not easily lose 10 games next season with a little bad luck. The Pats lose Brady and they are an 8-8 team at best. On paper none of the other three teams look like better than 8-8 next season. Obviously there's an off-season still to be conducted but I have no clue as to who will look best among the three teams that missed the playoffs this season when it is concluded.
I dont think momentum carries over from season to season. At the end of the day the Jets were the better team last year despite sucking a ton. And realistically we should have won week 17 if it wasnt for 2 boneheaded decisions. I think the Dolphins might pose a bigger threat next year, but then again I dont because I dont like the coach they hired.
Another thing is I dont see the Patriots running away next year. Their final 7 games were excluding the 2 Broncos games were all highly competitive. The Phins blew a 17-0 lead, Bills blew a 21-0 lead, Redskins posed a threat, they should have lost to the Ravens, then of course lost to the Giants. They werent really scaring anyone down the stretch, hell I was suprised they ended up in the Super Bowl. (fucking Lee Evans)
Well, if "history repeats itself" like a bunch of you morons here think, won't the Dolphins win the division next season? (Giants 07 sb comparison)
