Yea because he didn't get a chance unlike the other BUMS. Sanchez gets 50 Mil to win nothing. Has there been a Qb worth Liking since Joe Willie?
Right....because we'll get rid of him and pick who as a FA ? Or are we drafting Top 5 next year....which means we are going 5-11 or worse....which means what for MT, Rex, and Tony Sparano ?????
Sanchez will fall on the Ax. Woody has to take the blame for this pick. He wanted his Psl pretty boy after the Giants won the super bowl so he has to deal with the consequences of his actions. He sold seats now he has to cut this bum lose before we waste anymore time.
I think the funniest part about you is you're still sticking with the "Clemens didn't get a chance" mantra. Yet Sanchez, who has four road playoff wins at age 25, is a "bum" and Pennington was no good. I was beginning to think nobody else remembered Namath showing up at camp and trying to help, standing in the rain watching goal line drills. The guy is a treasure and almost 50 years later still the best thing to ever happen to the Jets.
The sad thing about the whole scenario is I always said the only way that Pennington could win the big one is if he had the perfect storm of best defense, offensive Line and Running game and everything to fall in place to perfection for him. How Ironic that it happened with Sanchez and we still came up snake eyes! Namath is the best thing to ever happen to the Jets. No matter what happens we can go back and look at the HBO special to remember that.
Outstanding program, brought back quite a few great memories. One can only imagine if Joe had not injured his knee at Alabama. With his arm, quick release, and a running threat, oh my.
He simply would have been the best ever if he was healthy and playing today. With the punk Brady rules in place he would have never been touched.
Can you imagine? I just wish any "Namath was overrated" Jets fan watch the footage with an unjaundiced eye. Namath was Marino with wheels...at least early on. I understand that young Jets fans don't quite get what Broadway Joe was all about...and I'm probably guilty of sentimentalizing the era as well. But he "made" the Jets. It's that pure and that simple. Actually, I'm heartened that there has been little anti-Namath sentiment on this thread. The HBO doc did a nice job at putting his career in perspective.
The problem is Namath's two most damaging injuries occurred on a run at Alabama and while trying to tackle a linebacker in a preseason game. Those injuries could have happened in any era. Of course, with modern medical procedures he would have rebounded from those injuries quicker and would have played more often.
