lol, good point. Also, going back to that game, we had some white safety Kors? that lit someone up badly and Namath basically had an orgasm on air.
Nice by any teams standards. That was an awful cold day, I think leahy missed multiple kicks and I believe louie Aguiar actually had a really long FG that went in but was wiped out by penalty. A brutal game but SD saved the day. RJ Kors and Namath said "wow" about 3-4 times.
Haha, that's when my friend played for them, he was drafted in 1990. Played for Rust and McPherson, his first game was the day of the Lisa Olsen locker room incident. Chris Singleton, a LB.
I remember Chris Singleton- didn't he go to Arizona? that 1990 Pats team was as bad as any both on and off the field.
Yes, he and his twin brother both were All-Pac 10 at Arizona, Chris got drafted #8 overall by the Pats, later got cut by Parcells and signed with Miami that same week. Played in 17 games in 1993 because of that, missed both byes. His brother Kevin got Leukemia as a senior at Arizona, recovered but never played pro ball. I graduated and played high school hoops with them, saw Kevin at our reunion about a year ago.
Nice, how is his brother doing? That was actually pretty successful, I remember a ton of muffed KOs from opponents not being able to handle those KOs.
He looked good, just a little older with a bit of gray. He made a full recovery at the time, because he had a twin brother to donate bone marrow they didn't have to search for a donor. Chris skipped the Senior Bowl and some draft stuff to do all that. The NCAA granted Kevin a 6th year of eligibility (they redshirted as freshman so were already 5th year seniors) and he played again for Arizona in 1990.
My lasting memory of him was holding for a FG and the snap hit him in the head because he wasn't ready. Pretty sure that was a game we won 3-0--another barn burner.
at Washington late in '93(our only previous win against them until this year). Saturday afternoon game, Bob Costas and Mike Ditka called the game which was a very odd pairing (I'm not sure if they ever did another game together).
One day when we have nothing going on--and I have a feeling there will be many--we should compile a list of the worst Jet games ever. All the 6-3, 9-5, 3-0 games, a lot of them from the Coslet era.
the 80s and 90s gave us many, the offseason is long-we'll have plenty of time:grin: I'm enjoying this thread, the '91 jets weren't a great team but it was a fun year and that Miami game was a great one for us.
Or more importantly who was their QB at the time? It wasn't Scott Zolak. I'm quite sure Irving Fryar was still on those teams and John Stephens was their RB. I could be wrong but Harry Colon was their starting safety RJ Kors... haha. My buddy idolized that guy because he was one of the few white players in the secondary at the time.
I watched that game at some roach motel in Myrtle Beach, drunk as was usual back then. The fish were 8-7 and it was the Jets only win over a team with a winning record.
I remember Tommy Hodson, Hugh Millen, Marc wilson, I think grogan was even still playing back then(we got Eason in '89 and he was w/ us for 2 years). Just like we are all whackos that remember this stuff I'm sure there are just as many pats fans whackos.
As a season ticket holder in a high school stadium with aluminum bleachers, I watched the Pats go 1-15 under Rust and 2-14 under McPherson, all within a 3 year period.
How many of your brethren would be able to say that they even know who those two were? 1 in 10? I grew up in CT and there were NO Patriots fans around. They just simply did not exist.
