It is not just jets fans that tout the back to back AFCG. I was a party with Giants fans yesterday and they say it too. Most ppl I talk to who are not hard core Jets fans wonder why there is so much drama about going 8-8 after back to back AFCGs. It is extraordinarily rare for a team to have that kind of productions 3 years in a row. It is just a let down season for us but the way things are around here you'd think woody decided to move the franchise to LA.
Getting to the those 2 games was a nice accomplishment but the goal is to build on games like those and take the next step. I mean what if we had made it to both those Superbowls and lost both is that something to be proud of ? The bottom line is that it is not about losing Champioship games it is about winning the BIG game ! In my eyes the past two years we were two time losers and won zilch, I am not big on those two moral victories--- sorry . I remember years ago after the Islanders had won 4 Stanley Cups in a row they interviewed Clark Gillies after Edmonton won the cup and stopped the Islanders from winning # 5. The reporter said " Clark, it is a great accomplishment winning 4 in a row you must really be proud " Gillies replied " it is not about winning 4 in a row it was about winning this ONE NOW . If you don't win the whole thing,,it does not really matter what you did the last 4 years,,,,,it's about winning ". Marty Shottenheimer was a perrenial regular season winner,,his teams won 10 ,11 12 games each year-----I guess that is something to be proud of as they made the playoffs almost all the thime,,,,,only thing is the never won squat in the playoffs or got a sniff of a superbowl. because the jets team, coach and fans acted like the victory in new england was their superbowl and did not go into pittsburg mentally prepared! for all the talk rex does about superbowl or bust, he certainly does try to live off those afc championship games as accomplishments. those are great on the way to the superbowl but mean nothing when you come up short. fact is, there isn't even a afc championship banner to go along with those appearences. a loser is a loser is a loser!
Agreed. Also, the Jets are only BARELY 8-8. There was ONE GAME this year where I was able to relax and know that "they got this in the bag." One. Not a sign of a good team that 'just missed the playoffs.'
JOESMOE it still blows my mind that they treated that win over the Pats as if it were the Superbowl . How they came out against Pitt and were so out of it / unready/ not prepared to get to the biggest game of their lives is mind boggling ! on a side note I had not realized that Shotty senior was a UFL champ in 2011,,,the monkey / gorrilla is now off his back :wink:

Uhh.....They also don't give out trophies to the SuperBowl Losers either, Cman. (I don't give a shit about the AFC Championship Trophy.....that don't mean jack if you don't get the REAL Prize afterward : the VLT.) I think going to the SuperBowl and losing is WORSE than losing in the AFCCG....
