I'll agree the pieces were in place when Rex arrived, but the philosophy wasn't. Our defense played like pussies in 2008. I still remember when Sutton/Mangini would rush 2, and drop 8 into coverage. It was awful.

Rex changed all that. Albeit, the D took a step back this past season, but i trust Rex will get that straightened out in 2012 (with a full offseason and training camp at his disposal).

I'm from NJ, champ, but nice try. And I don't remember taking any classes on obscure internet acronyms. Was that your major?

Because prior to the last two years, the Jets were only making the AFC championship game about once every ten years.

Also, I've never enjoyed watching a Jets team more than I did the Jets from when Rex took over until this season. From the great on the field stuff, to the wacky off the field shit (who's coach has foot fetish videos?) to hard knocks, the Jets have been a lot of fun under Rexenbaum regardless of losing in the AFC championship game.

Also, even in those seasons where they lost, it still felt like they won. Eliminating the patriots last season was like the superbowl, and just winning in the playoffs during Sanchez's rookie year felt like a win.

So I don't get too upset over 8-8, other than the ridiculous calls to get rid of Tanny or Rex. I've never seen the team be this successful over a 3 year span in my lifetime, so I can't see why people want to blow it up over one .500 season.

    Don't you mean 'IA'?

I live here, I am not from here. People in south Texas don't just up and become fans of perennial loser football teams from the other side of the country.

Well that would be a really shitty defense.

In my defense, Hank Poteat looked more like a pilon than a player anyway. So i wasn't too far off.

Actually, there are quite a few Jets fans down here because of relocation.

Met some great Jets fans (we still stay in touch) at the tailgate prior to the Jets/Texans game in '09.

Yeah, same here due to the military presence in SA. But for the most part, if you are from Texas, you root for the Cowboys, or you don't care about pro football.

    Or both.

I agree this year the defense really faded, and he hit wall drawing out every ounce of talent as possible from the potential players he had available.

There is some concern about the bravado, especially this year when we didn't make the playoffs, but I truely believe his bravado was a big part of why were had chances to go to the Super Bowl the previous two years. His greatest media trick was before the Pats playoff game. If it wasn't for him letting players say whatever they wanted and calling it personal between him and Bill, all anyone would be talking up and bringing up was 45-3. Because of all his bravado, all anyone was bringing up was comments made by him. It worked.

Obviously this year (too late) it seems Rex learnt that the offense isn't fans of the talk. They didn't like the pressure, where the defense thrived off of it. I think he mentioned that he does see his mistakes and hopefully he does change a little and learn.

it's about MENTALITY. even if the pats win 10 straight superbowls, Rex will never submit to the pats mentally, he will still believe that we ARE THE TEAM To beat. that type of mentality changes a franchise.

Where are they. I have lived in Texas now for more then 6 years & so far beyond meeting 1 guy from CT who was wearing NYJ gear. Besides that NYJ fan I have not not had the pleasure of meeting any others. So where are all those displaced NYJ fans residing:sad:

There is some truth to this, but we must also consider that the defense was coached better than the offense.

my take on the back to back afc title game talk is that it's long ran it's course.

after the colts afc title game i was hyped for the 2010 season considering the team extremely overacheived in 09 going from 4-6 to 30 mins away from the super bowl. i felt they gave it all they had and there was alot to look forward to in 2010.

after the steelers loss i was just dissapointed. i realized how hard it is to get that close 2 years in a row and to not make it either time. i was thinking about the potential free agent situations and the potential lockout coming up and just thinking, damn this was their chance and they blew it. the steelers game hurt because i felt the 2010 jets were better then the 2009 jets and the 2010 steelers were more beatable then the 2009 colts were.

being in the mix of things every year is a start but watching the giants back in the super bowl for the 2nd time in 5 seasons, i don't want to hear anything about back to back afc title game appearances. next time they get back to the afc title game, be it next year or whenever anything less then pulling through and winning that game is a dissapointment.

I don't get it, it is ok to go to a superbowl and lose and tout that but not the AFCG? Either way you a loser so I am not sure I am following your logic here.

Otherwise, I don't have a problem with them bringing that up. His goal is to win the superbowl, he has gotten much closer than probably just about all teams in the last two years, not easy to do. Let Rex take his shots at the hoop. He is not throwing up airballs, he has been hitting the rim. You do that enough and one is bound to go in. Cowher was a lot like this.

lol! End this thread right then and there!

If the Giants lose to the Pats, do the Giants fans go "Oh well we made it to the SuperBowl at least and not the Jets...derp..derp..derp...."? or is it a WORSE feeling to lose knowing how difficult it is to truly get back to this point?

This is why I'm rooting for the Giants to lose.....(at least one of the MANY reasons, anyway...lol)
