GOOD. I want some fucking continuity and stability for once. Come on, Mark! Get with the program and prove you belong this year!! I don't want to go through another QB Carousel again.
A. Manning will likely NEVER be truly healthy B. We did this once before with Favre and it was a mistake. Why repeat history?? I don't get the Manning thing at all. I hate the "trader Tanny" philosophy that has become so insidious in Jets fans. It is NOT the way to build a successful franchise. Unfortunately Tanny is an egotistical loser that wants the spotlight on himself and could not stand not to be part of the Manning hunt, so we probably will be players in it and I think it is completely fucking retarded.
But But But its Peyton fucking Manning! He is the greatest of all time and will be if the Jets sign him! This is how you build a successful franchise though!
If this was Madden 12, and Mark Sanchez wouldn't get upset and would still progress and Peyton would be 100% and I could easily work out some sort of contract where he would fit, I would love it. But it doesn't work that way and would be a bad investment in my opinion. Giving up on a young, talented QB with potential for an old HOFer with a neck injury doesn't make sense and is what you would have to do for this to happen. In 3 years (at most) we likely still wouldn't have won a Super Bowl and would have to start over with a new QB. And a lot of young QBs don't pan out as well as Sanchez has thus far. See: Carr, Harrington, Ramsey, Boller, Grossman, Losman, Leinart, Vince Young, Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn (and that's only 1st rounders since 2000)
^ +1. We have gone through so many QBs....Retreads, Busts, Backups.... We finally find a QB that, at the very least, is very capable and many here want to piss that away for 3 years of a 36-year-old QB who is one Wayne-Hunter-Turnstile-miss away from paralysis??? Oh hell no!
On top of that Peyton rarely took hard sacks. He'd just fall to the ground, and Indy had built a stout O-line.
Having vertebrae successfully fused means that his neck is significantly stronger now than it was two years ago.
But this isn't about his neck only, Soss. I think I read somewhere that it also concerns the nerve that affects his throwing...
How about if it was a trade it would be very close to being straight up... a man coming off 2 surgeries MAJOR ones at that... is not gonna have much value on the MARKET. People thinking or willing!! its worth mortgaging their future go for it... They would get a viable back up / compete /w luck for staring spot year 1. Maybe some picks(which is why we won't do it may i point out IMO) But getting back to my point. You wouldn't think that us eating some of the 26 million vs Sanchez 19(could be wrong:beer would justify the trade with him coming of surgeries?
Soul...you just summed it up RIGHT here... As now that I'm in full off-season mode I've done my reviewing etc...we NEED to stick with Sanchez. Everyone...take a GOOD LOOOOONNGGGG look at that list Soul put up there. Sanchez has done insanely more than all of them. And that is fact. His upside is still there. Again, he just completed only his THIRD year in the league...and that with only 2 real training camp/off seasons. I, personally, think that to do anything other than start this guy next season would be the WORST thing this franchise could do for a decade to come. To bring Manning in here in any capacity other than to tutor the kid would be exceptionally detrimental. Mark is our future and I think we need to give him and Sparano a chance. If you want to do something for our team how about going out and getting a top 5 receiver and THEN we'll see where we stand.
I hope that is the case. I hope he has some pride, knows he sucks ass right now, and works his ass off for the next 7 months. Because if he wants to be a qb, he either has to prove himself here next year, or somewhere else if Manning comes here..
Shocker... Only Jet fans dont want Manning over Sanchez. Anyone who plays or has played in the NFL would take Manning hands down over Sanchez. And the vote would be 100% - 0%...
THAT's not the argument you thick headed bafoon. It's about a Peyton Manning coming off of several neck procedures over a 3 YEAR QB who has showed us signs of brilliance in Mark Sanchez. I'm telling you, Jets fans are among some of the dumbest in the offseason.
Pot meet kettle.. The argument is a Peyton Manning capable of playing next year versus Sanchez. Its only people like you who cant comprehend that. And if you think Sanchez has shown "signs of brilliance," you need you need to call an eye doctor and schedule an emergency appointment with him. If you wear glasses/contacts, you badly need a new prescription. If you dont, you badly need glasses or contacts.
Are you related to Sanchez? Do you not get that he will never be elite? Maybe he will survive as a middle of the pack type QB but he will never be a top 10er. Get used to the idea.
You people act like he came in like Ryan Leaf. It's not even worth arguing valid points with you. You'll just give me an internet check up, right?
It doesn't have to be a TOP 5 Receiver, you know.... Just someone who is a bit over 6 feet tall, run-blocks like a madman, dougies like a master, and backflips like an idiot. He also has to have chemistry with Mark, too. But in all seriousness, though....A Tall Receiver is a MUST. Meachum? Draft Michael Floyd? Are you suffering from reading comprehension issues? Where did I say in my earlier post that I thought Sanchez would become Elite? I said "very capable". Didn't know that "Very Capable" = Elite.
I voted no and it had nothing to do with Sanchez. If Peyton comes here we would have next to nothing in cap space to fix the other holes this team has.
