    Now you're just being silly.

Rex gets two more seasons, not 17. So does Sanchez.

In the meantime, I'd use every financial resource I had to build the biggest, nastiest, dirtiest, offensive and defensive lines the NFL has ever seen.

Then, if it turns out Rex and Sanchez are not the answer - I already have the most important parts of a championship team in place.

To replace Rex and Sanchez now, with the current offensive and defensive lines in place, would be beyond foolish.

    This is exactly right.

The "quick fix" years were 2008 for sure (almost solely due to Favre) and maybe one can argue 2011. Otherwise, I don't see it. The Jets have tried to build a team that can compete for titles every year.

They have some turds to flush (Hunter, E. Smith) who will go down easy. Holmes is a long disgusting toilet clogger with some pieces of corn on the outside. I do not believe he is flushable. The Jets likely are stuck with him and Ryan and Sanchez are going to have to work it out with him.

This team is not far off from being a serious SB contender.

Well i thought it was pretty obvious I thought you were being sarcastic.

    Hence my sarcasm.

And considering the inordinate amount of knee-jerk, bi-polar fans who want Rex fired after one "average" season, could you blame me?

    You are clearly a troll.

The username was a good clue. The posts prove it.

My issue was with the excuses people have used at this site for the HC and QB. All I stated is that the excuses should end now.

And my issues are with fans who want to dump Rex then clamor over Gruden and Cowher even though they only won 2 Sb's combined. And it took one 13 years, and the other 4 years then didn't win another one again despite 6 more years.

I'd like a LITTLE consistency for once.

If the team proceeds to suck and fail to make the playoffs consistently, then yes, fire him. But I hate all these knee-jerk reactions to fire him after one bad season.

But I agree, no excuses - just fix the damn problem.

The Eagles signed every big name the could get their hands on and had a dogshit season. The Giants signed like two no-name guys and are in the Superbowl.

The difference is one team had a GM who stocked his team with talent in the draft and let over priced vets walk and had guys ready to replace them and be effective.

Of course the Jets instead of stockpiling draft picks and being smart about getting good players will get in bidding wars over older less effective players who will be fat and happy with their new contracts.

Then they'll have a shit year and do it all over again, because of course it wasn't the process that was bad, it was just bad luck with free agents.

Yes, davecrazy you are right. I found it very bad that the Jets traded away so many picks in recent years. Building through the draft and signing lower cost free agents is the way to go. The one big FA they might want to sign and I'd be in favor of the move would be to bring in Michael Griffin.

    Are you serious?

The Jets are coming off a mediocre 8-8 season and have the most screwed up locker room in the entire NFL.

They are looking at 5-7 wins next year.

How will the Jets respond? Look for them to try and do what they did in 2008 after the Giants won it all in 2007.

In 2008 they brought in Faneca, Woody, Pace, Law, Richardson and Favre.

Anybody who thinks for a second they won't go all out for Manning if he gets cut is delusional.

Not trolling at all, just stating the facts.

If you seriously think the Jets will contend for a Super Bowl title next year, you are quite delusional.

That's an impossible statement to make without seeing what team they put on the field.

Yes this is very hard to swallow Cakes. This and this reason alone Tanny should be gone he has made bad decision when it come to personnel and draft picks. Keep the draft picks Tanny that is the only way to build a solid team.

They aren't interested in building a team that might win in 2020. They want to win now.
