It is Super Bowl or bust now. My peak to this point was the 09 divisional win in SoCal. The wins vs Indy and NE last January were nice, but not enough to satisfy me. This fuckin' team has to win a Super Bowl next season. Nothing else matters. I am now fully on board with championjets69.
We all know deep down how this team is going to respond. Regardless of the outcome, there is huge incentive to win NOW, not build a team that will last for a decade, but win NOW. And that means that regardless of the sentiments of people on this board, the Jets front office will pursue Peyton Manning, and if Peyton Manning is available, they will get him. There is nowhere else for him to go to achieve the goals he wants to achieve in the limited time he has left. Miami just cleaned house, got rid of their only saving grace defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, they have a rookie headcoach, an inexperienced roster, and a lot of holes to fill. Arizona is nowhere near competing with the likes of the Saints, Niners, Packers, Giants, etc. Same goes for Seattle. Washington is out of the question; they're the worst team in their division, and Peyton does not want the drama of facing his brother twice a year and not being able to overcome him with the redskins being so bad. The only logical landing spot for him, if he is out of Indy, is here. He'll get the novelty of sibling rivalry of being in NY, but likely won't ever play Eli in a regular season game since I don't see him playing more than 3 years. He will get to settle the score with Brady twice a year, and he will actually have a good team around him unlike in Indy. He isn't retiring; the man rehabbed all season long even desiring to play THIS season, but Polian wouldn't allow it even if he was 100% because they wanted the #1 pick. He is too prideful to walk away from the game when the lasting image of him will be him rolling his eyes at his awful coach for calling a timeout. We all know this is what Jets management is going to do, whatever the outcome of the SB they need to rebound FAST. Because either our arch rival or crosstown rival will have the Lombardi trophy.
If you were, you'd properly refer to it as a "VLT" and save all the typing. Hoping, of course, they solve their L/room problems first.
The Cardinals can compete with the 49ers. They can fill some holes with good personnel moves this offseason. Did you think the 49ers would go 13-3 this season?
Geez, I don't know. Maybe because they're both future HOF QBs at the end of their careers that the Jets want(wanted) in the vain hope that they'd win the team a Super Bowl?
Woody will respond by signing a few big names, plus if Tanny is feeling pressure he may do something creative in the draft or just sign a big name FA
They will undoubtedly make a spectacle of themselves by publicly fellating Peyton Manning, only to have him go to San Francisco, leaving the Jets with an alienated fourth year QB who is already known for being overly sensitive. But don't worry, Tony Sparano is here. He'll save the day.
The Jets should respond to this Super Bowl by continuing to build the team the way they see fit. If that includes a 6-10 season in 2012 while getting rid of assholes like Holmes and marginally talented players like Hunter and E. Smith than so be it. I'm not saying the Jets should start over but if they think that taking a step back will lead to several forward than that's what they should do. No more quick fixes, no more pissing away draft picks
They took a step back this season. Enough with that. Enough. No more excuses with this blowhard Rex Ryan. I also don't want to hear any excuses about Mark Sanchez next season. He's a fuckin' veteran now. Enough of this one year of college bullshit. I will e-plunger any people on this board who may make 4th rookie season excuses for Sanchez next season.
^^^ This is exactly how I hope the team responds. If they keep the core in tact (Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, Sanchez, Harris) and start building now with an eye toward a 2014 championship, they will not only win it all in 2014, but they will win two or three more between 2015 and 2020. Or, they can try to fix it all this offseason, and cost us another half-decade of incompetence.
I don't think Sporano is going to have total control of the offense, looks like Woody is going for more specialization in certain areas. I think we will see 2 OCs one for run one for passing and they will coordinate game plans and Rex will get back to his roots and focus on the Defense Oh by the way the other OC for the passing game will be Peyton F*&%$g Manning he's the right guy for the job wouldn't ya say.
Okay, I have seen the light. Let us make excuses. I will grab a notebook and pen and write stuff down and save it for next autumn and winter. I believe Rex Ryan should get an extension. I am all for the 17-year Rex Ryan Plan.
If Manning gets signed by the Jets, I may join that death pool thing in the BS forum just to draft him.
The Jets cannot afford an off-season in 2012. They need to re-establish themselves as the clear #2 team in the AFC East and make inroads on becoming the top dog or somebody else will beat them to the punch. That's competitive balance. If you're not fighting for the spot all the time somebody else will beat you to it.
What we should do instead, is fire and hire a new coach every 2-3 years. That's the way to success, amirite or amirite?
