You didn't answer my question : Did you know that people still make fun of you at JI? Or are you simply ignoring that fact....lol
They didn't lose Revis, they lost their #1 cb, Revis he's not, but still the giants best cb. I suppose though Bryan Thomas and Jim Leonard are key guys but based on your rationale that they arent as good as JPP or rolle its not a key loss. Tt was a huge loss to that defense. Skew it all you wAnt. It affected the overall depth and pass defense as a whole. Losing goff(I know he's no Harris) was key to as he called the defense. Luckily they lost no elite defenders, just like the Jets
Yes, the first Steelers drive was 9:02. So with 5:58 left in the first quarter, the score was 7-0 Steelers. That's the only damage it did. What if they exchanged 3-and-outs for 9 minutes and then the Steelers got a punt return TD? The score would still be just 7-0 with 5:58 left in the first quarter. Nothing the Steelers offense did had any affect on the Jets offensive ability to get yards, first downs, and points. But they didn't get them. The Jets offensive inability to sustain drives DID hurt the defense though, as they had very limited time to rest. The Jets had the ball 5 times in the first half, here is how long they kept it each drive: 4:03(punt), 2:00(punt), 0:54(punt), 0:40(fumble TD), 0:59(FG, end of half). You need to learn how to have a discussion with people that disagree with you without resorting to mindless personal attacks, or you're going to find yourself getting bans for it.
Disagree, the Jets have a talented roster that very well could be sitting where the giants are a year from now
What are we supposed to talk about? Should the entire offseason be spent solely doing the team's job: scouting rookies and free agents?
The Giants have 4 pass rushers better than the Jets best one. That NYG pass rush more or less completely covers up their deficiencies at LB and CB. The rest of the Jets have to be really really good to overcome that.
CBs 1-45 are the same for the Giants. All average guys made to look better b/dc of the great pass rush. Whhen the pass rush wasn't humming earlier this year the corners looked bad but now they look great w/ the great psss rush. We didn't lose any irreplaceable players either, we just choked. TT is the definition of average, he wasn't a big loss.
Thomas had a very good 2010 and many felt he was ready for a better 2011. And your wrong Aaron Ross is still garbage
Other than being the same color skin I see no comparison in the 2, but Alex smith and lousy wrs can mask crappiness. Speaking of Revis and Ross I remember people telling me Ross was the better cb before the 07 draft. It's not even close or ever has been.
It's funny, but when the Baltimore kicker chocked, my wife said, that's the sort of thing that usually only happens to the JETS.
Some people are absolutely ridiculous. In order to reach the Superbowl you need to be good. Did Giants catch some lucky breaks? Sure. But that happens all the time in football. To say the Giants are undeserving is just classless and pure jealousy on the part of Jets fans. Eli Manning stood up and carried that team. In order to make the Superbowl you need to beat some of the best teams in your conference and that is what the Giants did. Now I hope they beat those damn Patriots.
One muffed punt. The other play you're talking about was a FUMBLE THAT THE GIANTS FORCED. I guess making plays is considered lucky now? Man, that Jerry Rice had one lucky career...
Jonathan Goff (starting MLB) Terrell Thomas (best CB on team) Will Beatty (starting LT) Domenik Hixon (starting WR & PR/KR) Those are the big names, but I could also start throwing out names like the nickel & dime backs they lost to injury You can argue Hixon isn't a "big player" if you want, but having your starting OL go out hurts. Losing the signal caller on your defense hurts. Look what losing Jimmy did to your defense and keep in mind he only calls the secondary assignments! Terrell Thomas is our best corner and he didn't play a regular season snap this year. Now factor in the in-and-out injured guys like Boley, Nicks, Phillips, Tuck, Osi, Baas, Bradshaw, Manningham et al and you've got a pretty extensive injury list. I get your mad, but start looking at things a little more clearly. Of course, I know that being objective and agreeable isn't exactly one of your hallmarks around here...
Please disregard my earlier posts in response to you. I've decided I'd rather not bang my head against a wall today.
Not one major loss for the season, nice role players but not one significant guy went down for the year. You did lose signficant guys for games here and there like every team does but you didn't lose one major guy for the season. That was the Giants and heir fans excuse when things weren't looking good, we don't hear that excuse anymore since they have been playing great. If they lost that many key guys they wouldn't be able to play at this level. I just love the Terrell Thomas talk, I told you at the time it wasn't a big loss and that has proven true. You or I could play corner w/ that pass rush. All those guys are interchangeable. If they lost a Tuck, Osi, Bradshaw, Nicks for the season then I'd agree w/ you but you lost them for games here and there.
It's ok, just go away then as I was proven correct again. When did Giant fans think Thomas turend into Revis? it's comical how you guys overrate Terrell Thomas.
The offense got it together in the 2nd half, but did a lot of things wrong in the first half. I don't think you can say the defense lost them that game. Yes they didn't stop Ben on those 2 3rd downs, but the only reason they had a chance to win by the end of the game was because the defense had kept them in it.
Losing your #1 CB is a significant loss for any team. Not everyone has Revis on their team, but if they lost their #1 CB they are hard-pressed to replace him. The Pats do NOT have a talented secondary, but they were notably weakened by the Bodden injury (in similar fashion they have recovered from that and played well with the passage of time). Look at where the Giants pass-defense finished this season and tell me losing Thomas wasn't a big injury. It obviously impacted them quite a bit (especially when you need to play high-powered passing teams like Dallas & Philly twice a year). Losing the signal caller for your defense hurts a lot as well. If you look at the Giants worst defensive stretch of the year, NO & GB games come to mind, you'll notice Boley (theretofore the signal caller for the defense) was out and they had Rolle calling defensive signals. Prior to Boley they had tried two other defensive signal callers. Blows to the brain trust of your team hurt, just like Leonhardt being out hurts communication in the Jets' secondary. Eli got his ass handed to him via Justin Smith running through, over, and around David Diehl on Sunday. Diehl was kicked out to OLT because of Will Beatty going on IR. Is Beatty a household name? No, but he was their best OLT and the loss hurt. Let me ask you, even with Brick having the down year he did, wouldn't it still hurt the Jets if he went on IR midway through the year? The defensive line and pass-catching weapons for this team have had injuries pester them all season. The DL is healthy now and coming through in spades while the WR/TE group has developed better than anyone could have reasonably hoped. Can you at least acknowledge that and give the coaching/players on the Giants some sort of credit? Or is it lucky that Victor Cruz is good at football and Jake Ballard is a starting caliber TE? Is it lucky that Eli put up his best numbers with a reworked OL & group of pass-catchers while having the 32nd ranked running game help him out? Is it lucky how this team rallied around their coach when his job was on the line? Junc, me not wanting to talk to you doesn't prove you right. NOTHING has ever proven you right and most people here know that. Why I'm bothering to engage you is somewhat baffling to me.
