This is how it would actually play out.

I've been looking at it from the POV of next year.
Next year it surely won't be as bad as this. Sure everyone will likely be pissed off next year too, but it can't possibly be this bad. Let's just get thru this like last time, and look forward to another year of football.

At the age of 44 I'm really starting to accept that it just ain't gonna happen during my lifetime. I'm definitely not letting myself getting as emotionally attached each season as I used to.

I am not far behind you and suddenly realised that this is likely true. Lets say we have around 30 years of fandom left. The Jets have never been one of those well managed franchises that regularly competes and so it is more likely than not that we will never get to a SB (let alone win one) in our lifetimes.

Given that I also support Newcastle United and England soccer teams I am likely to live my entire life never having enjoyed a winning season. :( damn you sports fandom!!!

but if you are a met fan you already know how to lose. I find it interesting how comparable the Jets and Mets are. They both never seem to get it just right, even when they are good.

  6. Even though I saw this match-up coming a mile away...this still is very painful. Living in Northern CT, you'd never even know the Jets were a local team.Everything is Pats-giants in local stores and on the local news. The only way that was ever gonna change was if the Jets went on at least one SB run followed by a drought from both giants and Pats. Last night caused for at least 5 more years of torment.

I'm dangerously close to giving up on football completely. I have lived and died with this team my whole life. I've watched fickle CT sports fans switch between the Patriots & Giants over and over again, yet still mock my passion and loyalty for the Jets. I've long lived under the assumption that the loyalty would be rewarded with a championship...but as I approach 30, I'm now realizing that this team is hopeless. I can't fathom rooting for another franchise...so I'm left to ponder giving up football all together.

Yesterday was just horrible, an outright catastrophe. The worst possible scenario occured, two lucky teams and I mean lucky, I just can't believe the Giants won off that fumble and Ravens missed a 31 yard field goal, just flabbergasted.

I haven't won a championship since 1986, when I was frieken 10 years old. And on that night the Mets won the championship my dad made me go to bed early for frieken school the next day.

I am a JETS, METS, KNICKS and ISLANDERS Fan, no one has endured as much torture as me.

  9. I started out as a Jets-Pirates-Whalers and Bucks fan. One team left on me,One team kept choking in the NLCS before becoming a league wide punch line, and one team can't even decide if their primary color is burgundy or purple.

That leaves me with the Jets.

    What are the odds???

IF you were to know at the start of the season that an AFC East team was going to the Super Bowl, and also one of the teams going to the Super Bowl would be from New York....what are the odds that the Jets WOULDN'T be in it??? Totally figures! Sometimes I feel like my team is such a damn loser!

What the hell does that have to do with the Giants and Patriots being in the Super Bowl?

If you let the Giants fans buy into the recurring of 2007 stuff, the Jets will have a decent year in 2012 and then get back to the AFC Champ game in 2013 and 2014.

    =)

52 years old, 32 year season ticket holder. I gave up on ever going to the Super Bowl after last year. Its never gonna happen, just wasting our time. Not when a team is flat for the entire first half in a Championship game. Was any of the teams yesterday flat? No.

Isn't it amazing? When will we ever get luck like that? First bal dropes a GW TD then misses a 32 yd FG and then the Giants get2 huge gift calls and SF fumbles/muffs 2 punts. When is it our turn to get luck like that and make a SB?

  18. Jets have never had that kind of luck. Hell someone read the stat that since like 2005 opposing kickers are hitting 96% field goals from beyond 50 yds against the Jets.Meanwhile the Patriots are the beneficiary of a GW dropped pass and a 32 yd shanker for the tie. When does the misery end? When is it our turn?

We did have some missed kicks in '04 and '09 but none of them were 32 yarders w/ the game on the line moments after a dropped TD pass.

No you don't realize what other fans and media say. If those things happen to us, we are "lucky". If they happen to other teams, "that is why (team) is so good, they capitalize on mistakes and force the mistakes".
