Jets owner won't rule out Peyton http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/322032-jets-owner-wont-rule-out-peyton?xid=cnnbin "When pressed, Woody Johnson wouldn't quite answer directly whether Mark Sanchez would enter the 2012 season as both the starter and the Jets' franchise quarterback. Asked again if Sanchez is the 2012 starter with 100 percent certainty, he said there "is no such thing as 100 percent" in this business. Barring injury? "Barring whatever," Johnson said, "yes." Later, he added: "We think he's our guy." But would the Jets pursue Indianapolis Colts star Peyton Manning, if he is available this offseason and healthy? Johnson said the Jets would "look at everything." "I'm not going to ever tell you guys what we may or may not do," he said. "Our job and my job is to, for the fans, take this team to the very top level."" While everything out there right now is speculation, I am 100% convinced that the Jets at the very least go from 8-8 to 12-4 or better with Manning at the helm. Just my opinion, do not kill me over it.
Yeah, this is going to be like Ty Law multiplied by Brett Favre, plus a bit of Nnamdi Asomugha mixed in for flayva.
In the Jets entire 52-year history, they have exactly one season in which they won 12 games. Even with Manning, the Jets do not go 12-4.
As soon as somebody shows me how they can afford to keep Sanchez and acquire Manning I might start to believe it..that seems to be what Johnson would like to do.
No..INSANITY would be to keep Manning and draft Luck..that would be almost 50 mil for next year alone.
I think it's going to be all Nnamdi. Manning isn't coming here, although he might use us for leverage. Or he's just retiring. If he really wants to play, why would he pick the Jets over Arizona? To hang out with his annoying kid brother?
You are right, we dont go 12-4. More likely we win 13+ games. If we had Manning last season, we beat the Raiders, Broncos, Dolphins, Patriots at least once, Giants. Peyton won 12 games annualy with an average team around him. If he came here, 12 wins would come a lot easier for him.
Peyton + Rex Defense + No need for offensive cord + ST God that could be godly Trade Holmes + Cromartie + 1st + any other player they want make it happen lol
The D was gashed in the Raider game and BOTH Pats game, the D allowed a 21 play 12 1/2 min drive vs. Miami, a 99 yd TD on 3rd and 10 vs. NYG and a 95 yd drive in the final mins to a team that couldn't pass. Our D cost us more games than our O.
Lmao no way, new CBA doesn't allow rookies to make nowhere near as much as they use to make. Cam got a 28m deal for 5 years IIRC.
Woody, and most NFL owners who dont have a Brady, Brees or Rodgers, get a hard on thinking about Peyton Manning playing for their team. He clearly wants Peyton and wont rule out Peyton Manning being the New York Jets qb next year.
Of course he wants Peyton you can tell by the way he answered the question when it was brought up, but the question is will Peyton be healthy, will he get released from the Colts, where does he want to play, and how much does he want to play for because anything over 13m we really can't afford since our cap space is pretty horrendous due to the effects of backloaded contracts(Calvin Pace/Bart Scott)
