I have been a Jets fan since 1965 and after reading what LT had to say I now feel that I may never see another Super Bowl unless drastic changes are made. I know I am going to get roasted by all the fans that unfortunely are willing to make excuses for everything and think that our fortunes will change when we wake up tomorrow. However, I could care less about that and I feel that I am speaking for a majority of the Jets fans when I bring up the following points and as a result of these, ask that Woody goes out tomorrow and appoints someone like Bill Polian as head of football operations, make him bring in a bright young GM and an up and coming coach like Tom Clemens or Pete Carmichael and have that person build a staff of seasoned coaches who don't have desire to be a head coach but are great teachers so we will have continuity.

    1) Tannebaum is in way over his head as a GM and we don't need an accountant as GM we need a personnel guy. How could he give a 5 year, $45MM contract to a thug like Holmes. What kind of GM has $9MM left in his cap and does not even go out and get a decent back-up QB to light a fire under his prima donna QB who is more concerned with GQ covers and making commercials.

    2) Rex needs to go because he made this team a joke and hated by everyone. His act is old and tired and there is nothing worse than a person who talks a good game and does not even have the ability to control his own team. He is nothing more than a great DC but does not have the long term leadership ability to be the guy.

    3) Rex and Tanny have to be held accountable for treating Sanchez as a prima donna. Sanchez is soft and we have seen the best he has to offer. They also need to be held accountable for what took place in that locker room and not having either the balls or leadership to correct it and save the season.

    4) They both also need to be held accountable for keeping Shottenheimer when everyone knows he was not a good coach. I don't want to hear how many hours the guy puts in. To make matters worse they gave him a new contract when they did not have to and knew they were making a mistake because they did not release that news for 11 months. That is where you have to question their judgement.

    5) A great head coach cannot be best friends with all his players and be lax with all the rules. One of the most important things that a team needs is discipline and leadership and we had neither and will not until these changes are made.

    6) Woody, you cannot turn your check and think things are going to get better because now you have subjected the fans to being the laughingstock of all fans. You need to blow this up and bring in the right people to build something that will make Jets fans proud instead of embarrassed by the actions of both the team and the organization.

Alls you need to know about the coach and GM is their pride in losing the AFC Championship game two years running.

Winners don't look at losing as an accomplishment.

Nothing will change because most mongo Jets fans like fat blowhard act. Just gotta suffer through a few more mediocre seasons of preseason superbowl predictions followed up by a disorganized mess of a team and a shitstain pretty boy QB who can't win.

They'll run out of excuses sooner or later.

I'm sorry and the last coach who had us in back to back championship games was......
And he should be fired because they had an 8-8 year while trying to take one last run with some older players who will now be replaced.

I swear the whole world would be unemployed if some of the people on this board were in a position to hire and fire people in real life.

And while we're at it instead of people just dropping the fire Rex and Tanny lines and running how about finishing a thought and letting everyone else on the board know who the Great GM and Coach in waiting is that Rex and Tannebaum are keeping us from

This shit is getting ridicolous. Rex cant talk anymore, im sure he knows this after watching these playoffs play out.

But get rid of him? Rex is considered a top 10 coach around the league. If we go down in flames next season then yeah u can ask for him to be fired, but even then its unlikely because we are hosting the Super Bowl in 2014 and I dont think we will enter that season with a new head coach. Rex will be around for the next 2 years, if we dont make the playoffs he probably wont be back. But thats so long down the road.

I'm with you man. After the while fiasco in week 17 I felt Rex needed to go, but the Jets aren't smart enough to realize it or savvy enough to do it.

They are a laughing stock (again!!!!) and that is not acceptable. For once, cut the cord early instead of late or as a reaction to fan unrest.

First of all, it all starts at the top and we have a silver spoon owner who gets bs's by two clowns like Tannenbaum and Rex. Rex does not even have enough discipline himself to push himself away from the dinner table. if you listened to LT, who is a team player and a leader, these two clowns condoned this type of team and then when it got out of control they had no idea how to right the ship. For that alone they both should go.

With no leadership at the top none of the players who might have been guys that take charge could pull Holmes and Mr. GQ to the side tell them that they were going to kick both of their asses unless they played like teammates and both got on the same page. Rex and the accountant made this franchise a joke.

You want a GM and a coach, go sign a guy like Polin to be your head of operations and have him hire a GM who knows how to spot talent. Go after the head of scouting for the Ravens or the Steelers who draft multiple mid to late round picks who stick every year. Antonio Brown of the Steelers was a 6th round pick, Victor Cruz was a FA.

You want a coach, go out and sign a Philben, or Carmichael who have creativity and imagination. We keep talking about ground and pound with Rex and Sporano, well guess what guys, football has turned into a passing game unless you have a dominant defense and we don't.

Rex and Tanny have to go ASAP.

Although you're obviously a wiseass fan of another team, I agree with you. The two championship games that our fan base is all jacked about and uses as a reason to believe we've got the answer in there will end up being the reason we're slow to pull the trigger (again, as always) on rectifying the mess.

So we should make drastic changes like we have done every 3 years for what the last 30 years. Good strategy. How about sticking out through some tough times with one coach, just one, for a change.

It's funny how quickly LT has forgotten the end of his chargers career. I'm pretty sure a lot of guys on that team were questioning his toughness. This is not new to the NFL if this was happening anywhere else in the country it would hardly make any headlines. When teams lose people call each other out.

You know why this doesn't happen with the patriots because they hit the jackpot with their qb. Wait until Brady leaves and bellichick is left without his golden boy and this sad excuse of a defense he has put together. One or two losing seasons and you'll see how quickly things change even In New England. That I know more than you so I'm going to answer all your questions with monotonous football coach cliches won't go over well with the media.

Also I don't know where all of this talk of Ryan being so proud of making the championship game is coming from. He seemed pretty devastated by the loss to me last season. He's been there 3 years in a row so I'm pretty sure he's not happy just making it there any longer. You know how long two afc championship games would buy you in another town. Probably a good 6 or 7 year run. But let's clean house and bring in bill cow her who took like 10 years before he won a super bowl. Or maybe this years most sought after coach Jeff fisher who still hasn't won one after how many years??

We have a coach who is one of the great defensive minds in the game. He has a lot to learn before he is a great head coach but recognize the talent the guy has before we call for his head. As long as he is here we will have a defense that will give us a chance to win a lot of games. Give him a chance to endure some tough times and see how he responds before you call for drastic changes.

Good, if he's one of the greatest defensive minds in the game, let him run the defense like he should be doing and get a guy who had some self-discipline so that he can discipline his players. You don't need a lot of time in situations like this to realize that the guy is not head coach material.

As long as Rex shuts up a bit and demands more from his players while controlling them. It's a zoo, and it's become rather embarrassing.

So then what? we bring in a disciplinarian like we did with mangini and he loses and then we hire the player coach again like we had before mangini with herm. Your suggesting we run the team in the same vicious cycle that every bad organization in this league has proven doesn't work yet they still continue to do it.

Hey we were in a downward spiral with mangini in 08. We lost to a bunch of teams down the stretch that just plain sucked and we should have beat if favre was throwing lefty but you know who came in and fixed that ??? Rex did and he more than fixed it he made us a legitimate super bowl contender for the first time since the parcels years.

What a ridiculous thread by jets 12 . What happens if we go 12 and 4 next year are you going to want rex fired too? Rex is the best thing that has ever happen to this organization...
