Right. Because a bad quarterback having his defense carry him to victories is automatically better than an average quarterback who doesn't have the luxury of a strong defense. Seriously, what is it that makes Sanchez worshipers so adamant and defensive when people point out that he is just not good? Here is what Sanchez has done in his first 3 years. 2009 Comp % 53.8 Rank 29 INT 20 Rank 2 YPA 6.7 Rank 18 Rating 63 Rank 28 YPG 163 Rank 28 2010 Comp % 54.8 Rank 29 INT 13 Rank 13 YPA 6.5 Rank 26 Rating 75.3 Rank 27 YPG 206 Rank 25 2011 Comp % 56.7 Rank 28 INT 18 Rank 5 YPA 6.4 Rank 27 Rating 78.2 Rank 23 YPG 217 Rank 22 This is the resume of a bottom tier QB. In each of these areas listed, which together are pretty indicative of how good a QB is, Sanchez has consistently shown himself as being well below average. Completion percentage, while slightly improving is still amongst the absolute worst in the league. Interceptions. Last year was about average, but this year was again amongst the worst in the league. YPA has actually gotten worse each year. Rating, slighty improving but still well below what would be considered average. YPG also well below average. How can anyone with any degree of objectivity look at Sanchez's performance in comparison with the rest of the NFL and honestly say that he is an accomplished and successful QB or that he will improve so much that he will be? Now, go ahead and call me names, insult me, and accuse me of being a troll/not a real fan/etc. for not being satisfied with a QB who is far below average in nearly every facet of the position.
We are not gonna call you names thats not the objective of this forum. That being said... This kid has had no help this year. If you yourself don't come to the fact that our ENTIRE offensive unit took a step back this year I don't think you will understand why he has been so bad this year... No protection.. No Holes for the run game... New FB( No T Rich is huge J Connner can't catch flat pass yet). Dropsies by WR's because sanchez can't step into the throw cause of protection... No communication or Hustle buy WR's( DOGGED it and sometime split other routes) I am not defending him but I would like for this team to give the kid a fighting chance. Get him a team that wants to help no hurt... Not only is every player and fan DOWN n Out about season but you have cancer's Kicking us while we are down... Now we have a new OC very disciplined(little penalties) Run first, play action, TE friendly O that does take shots down the field. Now we can see what he has in a offense SUIT TO HIM(optimistic). Now we will have a FULL offseason of OTA's and Training Camp this year is the last I will defend of Sanchez but everything is in place to see what he's like out of his Rookie Offensive playbook with different coaches...etc
I hope you're right. I really do. I just have not seen much from him to give me the feeling that he will improve to the point where we can look at his production and see an average QB.
You thinking he is not even average baffles me. The kid has poise when it matters. I won't argue he is extremely in-consistent which i blame on the coaching. Give the kid one more year he already is 4-2 in the playoff im not even sure Peyton or Eli got into the playoffs their first 2 years... Greatness is developed over time. Drew Brees was nothing until he left Schotty's System. The trend is in our favor the kid has Moxy just needs to grow a set of nuts and take over this team as the leader and the face of the franchise
I view him as being below average because thats where he ranks in almost every important category as I showed in my post above. That is debatable. However the coaches aren't the ones throwing the ball at a 55% completion rate (on passes that are mostly under 15 yards). I hope you're right Great response! Hell, Eli is also better than Brady.
Putting the whole season on him and writing him off is turning off just as many people. It also isn't letting him prove anything since any mistake he makes results in an outcry for him to benched.
With all the Shotty sucks, no it's Sanchez's fault debate, all I can say is that I am so glad that Shotty is gone. His offensive play calling was, well, offensive to Jets fans. That being said, I am not thrilled with Sanchez either. He was expected to improve in year three, and instead regressed IMO. Sure some of his numbers may have improved, but he made a lot of poor decisions, and his passing accuracy was often times questionable at best. He needs to play smarter, and be more accurate in order for him to be a successful QB, regardless of the OC's play calling.
A report a few weeks ago was calling for him to not go to Cali this off season. Stay here and work with the offense. Its a good idea. He is probably seeing broadway plays every day. Also reports saying he should rest for as long as possible. The shoulder surgery wasnt done last off season and likely wont be done this one either. Rest was the prescription.
