The team as a whole accomplished those things. Sanchez definitely contributed but he was one of many positives the Jets had. If Ryan & Sanchez were swapped, do you see the Falcons with 2 NFC Championship appearances and Jets not winning any playoff games?

I'd see the Falcons doing better with Sanchez than with Matty Lice.... pretty much proven by their comparitive records as NFL QBs since starting in the NFL

I think realistically you give him another season, namely because replacing him with a definite improvement seems rather difficult and unlikely. Also, I think giving him a fourth full season ends all questions as to whether he had enough time to mature into a solid NFL quarterback. If he doesn't play well next year, we will all have our answer.

Having said all of that, I'm not a believer in Sanchez. Overall, he is extremely inaccurate and he just doesn't consistently makes good decisions. In my opinion, decision-making and accuracy are the two most critical determining factors in establishing an elite quarterback, and sadly, these are Sanchez's two weakest areas. He has a nice arm and he is mobile, but even there, he seems rather hesitant to fully capitalize on his mobility.

I'm not sure if he is or not, but I believe he needs a chance to play next year under Sparano's system.

At the end of the day he was 15th in yards (3,474) with Newton being the only QB ahead of him who's newer to the league. While that's not great, it's good.

He was 9th in passing TDs with 26. That's great, especially in a bad offensive year/system for the Jets. He was 2nd in the NFL in rushing TDs by a QB tied with Tebow. That's a nice bonus, but you can't count on it every year.

Now the negatives we all know:

    - 3rd in NFL for fumbles, 5th in interceptions. This must change obviously if he wants to be the long term answer.

    - 27th in pass completion. This also must improve to be a credible QB.

    - These two negatives show the challenges with Sanchez about decision making. The one thing that I liked that Sparano said was getting his QBs to go back to square one and build from there. That's what I think Sanchez needs. Unlearn what he's learned and clear his head. I'd say he has the physical tools, it's the mental stuff and play recognition he needs to work on.

I think that this year was a perfect storm of poor o-line play, poor playcalling, no playmakers at WR and no running game to speak of.

Overall, Sanchez has the ability to be a average-above average QB. Certainly with Sparano's (and hopefully Haley's) help he can be good enough for us to win with a better running game coming, I hope.

If Jets see no improvement in 2012 with completions, decision making and protecting the ball, then they need to make a change. I just think that there's no sense in agonizing over it, no change will be made in the short term anyways. Too much is invested in the kid, so just cheer him on and hope for the best.

No, he's a Jet's fan. What are you?

Anybody who is rooting for Sanchez to fail next season is not a Jet's fan. If you think he's going to fail that's one thing but if you're rooting for him to fail you are not a fan of this team, you're something else.

I think you're just talking to yourself in like the last 6 posts.

He brought a tough-nosed defense to this team for two years. They got soft this year. If it becomes a pattern, then he's an issue. This year he gets a pass.

Just because he's loud and you hate him doesn't make him a bad coach. I'm glad he's loud. He just says what every other coach thinks anyway, so who gives a shit? People make way too big a deal about the things he says.

I think GRNYT is trying to up his post count by posting nothing but "nothing" posts.

That's pretty frowned upon here at TGG from what I hear.....

For Christ's Sake! Can we finally give this 2 conference championship bullshit a rest already?

Sanchez was along for the ride and THE TEAM got to those conference championship games because of the defense and running game. A team with an average QB and as good of a defense and running game that the Jets had those 2 years would have won those conference championship games (and probably played them at home instead of on the road).

But just for fun let's keep using this ridiculous logic. That then means that:
    Tebow > Roethlisberger
    Sanchez > Brady and Peyton
    Alex Smith > Drew Brees
    Flacco > Brady
    Hasselbeck > Brees

    Historical:
    Dilfer and Hostetler > Marino

All of this must be true.

and those those few Sanchez hero worshiping fans are getting boring with their constant desire to argue that Mark is a good QB and will be great! I think they are turning off a lot of people with their constant comparisons with other QBs. ENOUGH! Let Sanchez prove what he is by winning consistently and I am talking about Super Bowls!

have some nice streudel, relax and bask in the glory of your man Brady's big win yesterday.

Seriously, none of your hyperbole is relevant, of course, to the fact that Sanchez has been a better quarterback to date in his career than Ryan. Maybe someday if Ryan can actually win even ONE single playoff game we can revisit this comparison
