They'd have wiped out against the first team with a pass rush or an explosive offense. This team just wasn't that good. The locker room issues destroyed their chances but those chances were slim to start with.
I like to think we could / should have gotten by the first round depending on who we played but I believe today would have been our spanking. This said,, the way they ended on that 3 game skid and all the other bullshit ---> see Holmes and others---we might have gotten booted last week
A bunch of you are saying that we would have gotten killed today. But don't you think that after two games Rex would have figured out a way to stop the NE offense?
The Jets didn't beat a team that finished above 8-8. They certainly weren't going to suddenly start doing that in the wild card round on the road. Even if they'd beaten the Dolphins and everything fell right for them they still wouldn't have beaten a team that finished above 8-8. The teams in 09 and 10 each beat the Patriots once during the regular season and also had a win against another playoff team (09 Colts/Bengals, 10 Steelers). This team just wasn't that good to start with, It had a crappy offensive line, an average group of receivers, an overwhelmed QB and below average tight ends to go along with a mediocre group of running backs on offense. On defense it was the don't bend but break when it counts group.
with # 36 out and Eric Smith still there---------the NE TE's would have run amuck today . With the way things have gone / blown up it is better that we fired Shotty and made moves ALREADY 2 weeks ago,,,it gave us somewhat of a head start on cleaning this mess up as if thats possible .
The Jets didn't beat a team on the road this year that had more than 6 wins. There's no way short of a miracle that they were going to beat the Texans last weekend. People need to understand that this wasn't a good team. The off-season got blown and then from all accounts the in-season coaching followed suit. It's easier to put this all on Sanchez but the fact is that the 2011 Jets were not built to win, let alone win it all.
Sorry man but I just can't buy into that. The team didn't undergo THAT much change from 2010. I think it just came down to the fact that Sanchez showed his true colors this year once he was given full command of a pass-first offense. We should have never quit the ground-and-pound to begin with.
I agree with you on the never quitting Ground and Pound. I refer you to Ben Roethlisberger's third season for an example of what happens when a good organization makes the same mistake the Jets made this year. Same results, BTW, both for the player and the team.
They would have lost last week. No way that team goes on the road and beats Houston. What if the Jets won the SB last year? What if the Jets won the SB year before last? What if they never hired Herm? If the Jets did not have a 1-15 season what would their all time record be?
One and done. They'd have been embarassed and humiliated just as they were vs the Dolphins and Giants. The difference is that if they had made the playoffs, I'm betting that few changes would have been made. I'm glad they missed making the playoffs. They are not as talented as many Jets fans think and their CS and Rex's handling of the team was severely flawed.
this season has shown that nothing is written in stone. Yes, the Jets were flat at the end of the season, but assuming that got into the playoffs, they could of switched it on like they did against the Bills during the regular season and beat the Texans in their house. Round two, assuming it was the Patriots, I dont think they would of won it.
Probably would have lost in the first round to be honest. We looked like shit at the end of the season.
