Hopefully, they'll see Bowles as a young coach who happens to be black instead of a Rooney Hire. If the young coach has a good showing, he'll be in the mix at the end of the season but if I don't miss my guess, they'll probably chase a "name" just to bring back their "shrinking fanbase".
the interim label doesn't satisfy the Rooney Rule. They'd still have to interview himn or other minority candidates. I'm sure they will and hire someone else.
What do we do now? We have two fatties patrolling the sideline. Does this negate the fat effect and mean we will win the SuperBowl? So many damn questions.
We have our share of idiots but if I was to search the threads of Gang Green I could find one as equally ridiculous. When your team is in turmoil creating threads about other teams is nothing more then trying to lighten up your teams situation. Works both ways.
what people don't realize is that every board has their share of idiots, this board this year became the dolphin board from last year blindly blaming the OC until they ran the OC out of town. We saw how that fixed Miami's problems and they'll see how it fixes our problems if we don't fix the OL and other issues we have.
It wasn't the fans that ran Schottenheimer out of town. If what the fans wanted mattered, this team would be 1-15 every season.
Generally hate finheaven, but it would be nice if we could get a couple objective Dolphin fans come over and tell us about Sparano
the fans and media made it almost for Brian to return, the team wouldn't have given him a huge extension last year if they didn't know he was a good coach. This team needed a scapegoat and Brian became that.
If that's the case, you should be blaming Woody and the FO for having little to no backbone in the face of the fans' ire. The Giants have stuck with players and coaches in the same demographic that the fans would have run out of town years ago, and have found success. You like to say that most message boards have their own share of idiot fans. The difference? How the teams they root for deal with that idiocy. Blame the team for Schotty leaving, junc. The fans are being fans.
Maybe b/c they haven't won a playoff game in 11 years? playoff win droughts in AFC East: NY Jets 2010 NE 2007 Mia 2000 Buf 1996
I blame the team too but the media and fans created the atmosphere to get rid of him. A team doesn't give a 2 year extension one year then fire a guy the next b/c he had one bad year w/ a million problems to deal w/. Maybe he wanted out b/c of the scrutiny? maybe he went to them to come to an agreement? we don't know yet.
He is ultra conservative by nature. Never wanted to take any chances to go for 7 and was satisifed (fist pumps) by going for 3... Even with a new offensive coordinator this year, he was still inclined to play it safe and still loved to go for 3. In the off season he said he would open it up more but he never did... His speciality was the OL...but our offensive line full of first rounders was terrible...It was only decent at times because of Jake Long. Once Long got injured, Tony couldn't fixed the OL to save his life. I am happy is he going to be calling plays for you guys. Have fun with this ultra conservative ways once he hits the redzone...
Why are you so fixated on "playoff wins"? If you don't win a conference championship and at least get to the Big Dance, it doesn't matter if you miss the playoffs, lose in the Wild Card round or lose in the Division Round. A few WC and DR playoff wins mean absolutely nothing.
Does that mean I can take credit for him getting fired? Because I was bashing him long before any of them were. *FLEX*
it does mean something, you guys had a better season than us even if you don't win Sat night, it sucks not making the playoffs. Losing in the playoffs is better than not making it, winning in the playoffs is better than losing.
If the Pats lose Saturday or in the AFCCG, the entire season means nothing. It's all about getting to the Super Bowl.
Maybe for a team that was a dynatsy last decade it's SB or bust but for a franchise that had one title game app from 1983-2008 making those 2 title games was meaningful and regardless what NE does they will have still had a better year than the rest of the division. You can't get to a SB w/o playing in the div rd and title game, it's fun to have a chance.
