i know im going to get blasted for saying it - but i agree with the FO in retaining schotty .. Do i think he is a sean payton - NO - but i dont think he is the reason for the offensive woes - the problem is Sanchez

if you kick schotty out Sanchez is still going to have the same problems

to me it seems like sanchez has confidence issues. you heard it from LT in an interview - when he gets down it perpetuates - he obviously cant handle a leadership role because he lost the huddle - and he lost the team - sanchez needs some life coaching in leadership - and some serious confidence boosting - that being said - i think shanchez has alot of heart and a great work ethic - he just needs to "grow a pair"

regardless i think the jets need to focus on strengthening their run game - we have to go back to the "ground and pound" because its evident that was a winning formula - sanchez cant be counted on to orchestrate the game winning drives all the time as we saw in denver and mia with his game losing pics.

that being said - the front office can take some of the blame themselves for the team they have put together this year and...

REX RYAN - can take the rest of the blame - because he really failed at "coaching" these players and this locker room in the second half of the season ....

i hope we keep santonio and i hope sanchez takes the initiative to sit him down and talk to him - because they have some game winning explosive connections . and i hope REX takes the initiative to talk to the WHOLE TEAM - MAN TO MAN.. crying in the locker room is a joke... i dont agree with that, and i think ryans emotions get him into alot of trouble...

I have alot of hope for this team ... Sanchez has alot of potential and i hope he puts on his big boy shoes... i want to see WILKS development and im excited about mabin next year - i love bart scott but we need to draft someone to develop and take is role - same for BIG JIMM ... our O line is missing a RT but i think there is alot of potential ...

    heres to 2012

and if peyton becomes available - rex should sell his soul to get him

What has Schotty done in his 6 years as an OC to prove that he's not the problem?

"if you kick schotty out Sanchez is still going to have the same problems" is just about the only thing I agree with.

Schotty controls everything that is the offense on the jets...he deserves the blame for not elevating the passing game and being extremely predictable on offense.

Their is a problem with the offensive scheme. That is not a question.

Sanchez has played poorly. That is not a question.

Which gives us a better chance to win? I'm going with a change in an offensive scheme.

Brees leaves San Diego (Schotty) and becomes one of the premier QBs in the NFL.

Pennington leaves the Jets (Schotty) and wins comeback player of the year for the Dolphins and has his best season.

Favre leaves the Jets (Schotty) and has his best season of his illustrious career with the Vikings.

There has been a carousel of QBs for Schotty and the Jets the last 6 years and there has been absolutely no production from the offense - the problem is in black and white - Brian Schottenheimer.

That's my stance too. I'm not big on Sanchez and think he's an average QB in this league, but Schott has had plenty of time and no results. Our run game was impressive in 08, 09 and 10. Outside of that, there haven't been many positives. His smoke n' mirrors scheme in 06 was figured out by the next year.

Do you ever watch other games wondering how their wide receivers get so much separation? Or how often routes are designed for receivers to just go and have the quarterback toss it up there? Have you every noticed that some teams don't run 4 yard routes when the first down markers are 5 yards away. Or they don't run the stupid reverse end arounds at the worst times. Or the fact that they don't abandon the run for the pass when the run is working. Or how they use the run to establish play action (our quarterbacks strength).

    That is disgusting. Eww...

That is horrible. I just hope they figure the shit out, I think fans will revolt if they truly do keep Schotty around again.

So you would rather keep an OC that hasnt produced an offense thats better than mediocre than give our HIGH draft pick QB, whom we’ve invested 50 million dollars in, a new start and a new OC?

    GTFO.

The guy has been here 6 years. He’s done NOTHING to warrant an extension at all. Nothing. Have you watched any game this year? Or last year? Or every year in the last 6 years?

If you watched Denver play the Steelers today and dont think the play calling entirely changes the perception of a QBs play, then youre completely clueless.

great points on the Shotty-QB failures. I agree though that Rex needs to get a better handle on his emotions which will prove his downfall if not. And no more cursing at fans and opposing team players.

First off, you said in your OP that we're retaining Schotty.

Care to provide a Link 'cause last I checked, he's still in the mix for the Florida College Job AND is a candidate for the Jags HC job....

    Oh and another thing :

Do you even read the news at all? Norv Turner is being brought back for another year to the Chargers.

It's like you fell asleep for 3 days or so, then decided to post something based on knowledge you had 3 days ago.

    Things changed, my friend.

He got the team to two AFCCGs with a raw , inaccurate and inexperienced QB.

the front office has "endorsed" schotterhimer - rex himself said the only way he leaves is if he leaves for a HC job - and previously we were talking about Norv -

yeah we were but now that he's going back for another year(which was announced YESTERDAY...I think), we're no longer talking about him here. We were talking about the nightmare pairing of Haley/Sparano, though. Thankfully, Haley is going back to 'Zona...

Schotty's not the only problem with the Jets offense, but he's also done nothing to show that he's part of the solution.

I'm sure Alex Smith agrees with you. Sheesh... How can you honestly say this? Coaching can do wonders, especially for younger players.

This is just not Schotty's MO. He does not believe in ground and pound, which in contrast, is the system that Rex wants to run. That is another reason why Schotty needs to go. He wants to force his system on the personel available to him, instead of developing a workable system around the personel.

Also, why is everyone calling for leadership and accountability from the QB and then none from the OC, as he is infact the "boss" of the offense and on the top of the pyramid on the offensive side of the ball. This is also why most of the blame for our offensive struggles should be appointed to Schotty.
It is also an easier transition to change the OC, than the QB.

What if Manning doesn't pan out? That would set this franchise back for a good 4-5 years. But sure let's go and trade for him and take his monster salary or then sign him to a monster contract in FA. Thank god you're not the GM of this team.

Bingo. This is just it. The results just aren't there, whether we had Chad, Favre, or Sanchez. We've had one top 15 offense, ONE, in the 6 years he's been OC. That just doesn't cut it.
