eh somewhat an unfair comparison. Those teams ahead of us were already successful before Tanny became GM. When he did take over the GM role, that '06 and '07 team wasn't talented at all. The better comparison would be to see how GMs did when they FIRST took over their respective teams.
Tannenbaum and Sanchez will be given another year I think. I also would not be surprised if next year this team does really bad that Rex may be gone and Woody will call Bill Cowher and give him the reigns to the team including key decisions
The two teams closest to the Jets in performance over the 6 seasons are the Titans and the Texans. That's reality. The Jets have been a very average team with above average luck over that span of time and they've still only averaged 8.5 wins a year.
Agree to disagree I guess. Idk how you can quantify above average luck in the regular season, but to each his own. Either way averaging 9 wins over 6 seasons is above average and pretty impressive IMO with the amount of parity in the NFL today.
The Titans have averaged 9 wins a season over the last 6 seasons. The Jets have averaged 8.5. Do you see the Titans performance as pretty impressive over the last 6 seasons? They've made the playoff twice over that span and not in the last 3 seasons and yet they lead the Jets in wins. If the marginal contenders had not decided to lose out en masse in 2009 at the end that's where the Jets would be right now also only not quite as good.
Same thing I wanna know. Everybody gets blame except Rex. At least for the most part. My problem with tanny is that he overestimated the talented level on this roster. He felt he could cut certain guys because he had good players waiting to take their place. I hope this season humbles him a little.
It's usually that way. Our success was revolved around a system in 09 and 10. This year i think we tried to put more dependency on single players. A lot of fucus on Holmes, letting Edwards and Cotch go. Not doing anything to solidify the line that created the run game that gave those guys the succss they had before. Even Brad Smith leaving. I know we didn't get much out of his wildcat stuff, but it was still something else for the opposing defense to have to think about. 11 was the year of shrunken dimensions. And Sanchez isn't a qb that can carry a team like Brady can,he can be good if all the other pieces are there.
Oh really? It's usually "should Rex get more blame" type questions. When the offense shits the bed they blame schotty. When the defense shits the bed they blame certain individual player (cromartie, Scott etc)
On here yes, in the national media he takes blame win or lose. Who really cares about people on here? We aren't going to get a coach fired.
As far as the national media it's only now that Rex is catching more heat. Before the end of the season Sanchez was catching more heat and the defense was getting blame etc.
For those of you who are SO unhappy, i propose that Woody fire Tanny, Rex, and Schotty and cut Holmes and Sanchez. Woody could then assume the roles of GM/HC/OC/QB/WR. That would really show us that an 8-8 season is unacceptable and there would be clear accountability. it would also have the added benefit of less stupid shit like this thread being posted in this forum.
There's also quite a few other reasons to fire him as well. The bottom line is that he should be gone.
No, no he shouldn't. The guy has a pretty good track record here, lets not cherry pick instances to can him. Calling for someones head over a few screw ups is extremely premature and irrational.
Yes, he's made some good moves, but imo, those have mostly been limited to handling the cap and contract negotiations and trades. With regard to the draft, the bad far outweighs the good. He is the reason there are so many holes on the roster and there was no OL depth last season. To begin with, he's not a football man. He can't evaluate talent and doesn't have a clue how to put together a roster. He's an accountant and attorney. He has to listen to his HC and scouting dept., so the Jets lose out on another valuable eye and perspective. He's arrogant and always has to make a big splash to get his name in print. He doesn't know how to find cheap talent. He has to trade up or sign a big name FA. In 2009 and 2010 the team had great chemistry and the locker room was a happy place. That all disintegrated in 2011 due to Tanny's getting rid of 1/4 of the team during the shortened offseason (also a stupid move because of the lack of OTAs, mini camps and a shortened TC), plus getting rid of some of the other veteran leadership they had. He is NOT above average
You are blind dude and don't have a clue what you're talking about. There is a LONG list of reasons why he should be fired. It's not cherry picking. Supporting and keeping Schottenheimer is reason enough, but there are PLENTY of reasons. Denying them just shows your ignorance.
O yea, chief? List them. For every one you list I bet you I can write twice as many good to great moves he's made. I'm ignorant, yet you don't provide this supposed 'long list' of reasons. Give me a fucking break. You're just another typical TGG poster who prematurely wants everyone fired. His teams have made the playoffs 3 out of 6 years he's been here and if Favre/Sanchez didn't shit the bed the last few games of '08 and '11, respectively, it would be 5 of 6.
Fuckin Tanny built a Super Bowl team in the 2010 season. We almost made it. Quit playing the blame game.
