I can see the players buddy and lets win one for the gipper thing working as a college coach I cant see it working too well in the nfl where players care about getting paid >>>>> winning

i have much more close experience of soccer than the NFL and the truly successful coaches in soccer have never been the ones that are the players friends - they are the ones that the players know they cannot get away with anything with

ellis, lowery and cotch were all capable/good players in their respective primes/roles.

thankfully, the people pining for them on this board will NOT be running the jets next year.

This will be fine fodder for next years "us against the world" mentality that will pull this team together.

Holmes thing is ridiculous IMO....the game was over,, captain check down confused shonn green as his #1 read....every play. Good for Holmes with not tolerating the shit play..by QB and line.

  7. With the final 8 rules, compressed off season due to the lock-out, limited cap space and many aging contributors, player turnover was unavoidable.

The RT position was a tough one. Hunter played well in the playoffs and Ducasse showed signs of vast improvement at the end of his rookie year. You figure between the 2 of them someone HAD to step up. Additionally, at a position where cohesion is so important, 6 weeks of TC w/ no mini camp...who knows how much better someone from the outside would have done.

Reality is, whether we like it or not this was a transition year. We got younger at alot of positions and opened up a ton of cap space to fill in holes. Did we think the team was gonna do better on the field? Yes. We felt that Rex's coaching would speed up the player maturation process and cover up holes that were unable to be addressed this off season. Unfortunately Rex isn't Vince Lombardi. He's still a damn good coach and this team is loaded w/ young talent. Let the FO use the cap space and ample draft picks to fix the holes and as Rex would say "We'll see what happens".

Yeah, and once Holmes left we scored a touchdown to his replacment turner. Matt Slauson had more catches than tone, and tone was running lazy routes if he wasnt the number one read. You saw how Plax/Kerley/Turner all hustled still when the game was all but over? Don't spin everything on Sanchez when Tone has been playing badly and made stupid decision. There are many reasons to bash Sanchez, no need to use Tone as one.

Well he fumbles the ball, and the next drive down he lets a catchable pass go through his hands for a picks, and then to top it off he taunts the other team and gets a 15 yard penalty when we are down big! great teammate. this is what everyone was afraid of since winning hides everything, people were nervous if things weren't going smooth. Surprisingly enough (for me) Plax seems the best teammate by far out of mason/tone/plax.

The Jets have a lot to fix in the offseason but Cleaning house from the G.M. on down?

Tannenbaum - has done a good to very good job in my opinion. Drafts have been solid and he sacrificed some depth to move up in the draft which is showing in spots after injuries but I'm happy to have him as my G.M. especially when you look at some of the others out there running teams. Does an excellent job with the cap.

Rex - Stays period. In three years the man has changed a losing culture and attitude. Has gone to two Championship games and has people wringing their hands over an 8-8 season. This is a far cry from where this team was before he arrived.

Sanchez - is a mystery. I'd rather see him with a different QB Coach / Offensive Coordinator before I'd be willing to say he's not the answer. His accuracy is the issue for me and in my mind that is something that can be taught /corrected.

Schottenheimer - I have seen enough. I'm not willing to say he is to blame for all that is wrong with the offense but the fit from Sanchez to Holmes to the play calling to what the head coach wants the team to be offensively just doesn't seem to fit.

Defense - Got a little old in some spots and inexperienced in others. A legit pass rusher and some additional speed / size at safety would help a lot. Not a great year for the "D" but I have a hard time believing that we don't have the right people in place to fix this.

Bad season considering expectations but can we take a breath before we tear down everything that was built over the last three years?

I may be in the minority but I don't think this team is far off.

Lets start with an impact player in the first two rounds of this years draft and an Offensive coordinator with a strong background and personality and a full offseason.

Chances are, Plax Is not returning for another year in Green and White. With Holmes and Plax being so Close, as friends, off the field This will probably Piss Holmes off. Brandon Moore is a Very Respectable player, and if you have "Words" with one of the most respected players of your team, then Chances are, your team is gonna turn their back on you. With All that said, and those of you that want Holmes gone, what do you think hes worth on the trading block?

I'd look for a 3rd-4th yr safety in that trade. Getting quality OL for Holmes might be tougher.

I think Rex made a rookie coaching mistake when he tagged Holmes as a team Captain. That was the moment Rex 'lost his team', especially some of the Vets that already couldn't stand Holmes and now Rex tags him the team Captain.

The biggest problem the Jets would have in trying to trade him (aside from the character concerns scaring teams away) is that no team will want to inherit this contract. He simply isn't worth it, even if he was putting in the effort and being a good leader.

"All I know is I got a guaranteed contract for $4 million," Scott said when asked about his future with the team.

There isn't anybody left on this team that I give a shit about but in Scott's defense I don't blame him when you open up the paper and read that "internal Jets sources" say they can't wait until the first day of the offseason and they can cut his ass. If it's true, he's right our complete garbage GM gave him a guaranteed contract so that he could hoard the money and not spend it to improve the team...let the Jets suck if they want to cut him....and pay him on his way out the door.
