    1) In the Off season please build the defense to be the most dominate in the league. It's fun to watch a power house flying around and Tom Brady, Moore and Fitzpatrick in the dirt. (defense is our focus) be the best.

    2) Build the offensive line and bring in another running back (MJD). Ground 'N pound, control the clock and hit 'em with the play action pass (to a receiver that can get separation). HB screens are beautiful too.

    3) Eliminate the divas. Get rid of Holmes and Burress (bring in someone who understands the offensive play book and has a desire to be a champion.) Young Cotchery and Chrebet are models. I would even put Coles in here

I am finally ready to admit their is something wrong with my quarterback. I believe with the right tools around him he can be a champion. I do not believe Holmes and Burress are the right tools. Although they are tools.

The New York Jet Offense is a running offense. That is what our coach has stated and continues to promote. 70%-30% run vs pass. Control the clock, wear down defenses and win the football game with our strengths.

I love the New York Jets. I want to win football games. I do not want to root for classless athletes like Holmes anymore. The player is not above the game or his teammates. I don't care what he has accomplished in his career. I know what a champion looks like and how they are suppose to act and perform. I know as a fan I have never witnessed such atrocious behavior.

The New York Jets have a proud tradition with titans like Martin, Cotchery and Chrebet (my era). Look at MJD. His Jaguars have sucked forever, but he plays the game the way it is suppose to be played. That is the kind of player I want to root for.

All of those things are a lot easier said than done.

How many running backs in recent history have been elite with their second team?

I want players who win games. If they're talented, but not the best guys, that's fine if they help me win. Sorry, that's just how it is. Would I rather root for a high character guy like Curtis Martin? Absolutely. But winning comes first.

We definitely need to revamp several areas on the defense to get to the level we're supposed to be. Offensively, Holmes isn't going anywhere. And that's not a bad thing. Burress I can take or leave. Another year out of jail, he should shake off some rust, but he's also older. He does help in the red zone, but we need someone younger.

We need to be able to pass the ball more consistently in order to make a Super Bowl run.

Humor me if anyone can truly argue that it is definitively one problem more than another...It's funny in the sense that you have to laugh because otherwise it makes you wanna cry, but the problems are so complex and overlapping that Tanny is almost going to have to gamble in fixing what looks to be the biggest need.

Is it Sanchez really just not meeting the expectations? Greene not capable of being the feature back (either by Schotty or his own self restraint)? The truly dismal offensive line? The slow defense? The lack of a pass rush?

I might be losing people with what my point is but think of how many of those questions intertwine. In a sense, are the real questions actually "Or is Sanchez stalling out with a depleted O-line?" "Or is it the line not run blocking for Greene?" "Or is our D getting beat because of the lack of a pass rush?"

Not my best illustration but I think you guys will get what I mean

Elite with the 2nd team, do you mean other than Curtis Martin or MJD? If you're talking MJD the most obvious answer to any of us should be CM

    1. On defense, we need speed. We need at least one Safety who can cover (multiple safeties must be brought in), an OLB who can ACTUALLY win a 1 on 1 battle, depth at ILB and a big improvement out of Kendric Ellis. ALL require a lot of attention, and most likely time.

    2. Im not sure how you expect to get an elite back this offseason? I mean, first off, MJD is around 27 and has knee issues so thats probably not the best option if you wanna break the bank and send our future in draft picks. I would love for us to sign an elite back, but its not happening. Sorry.

    3. You are right. We should totally get rid of our 2 starting WR who have developed chemistry with our QB. WTF are you smoking? We would be left with an unproven slot receiver and Patrick Turner. What would that do to this team? If you want to get rid of divas, Cro should be gone, Kendric Ellis bc hes a druggie, Sanchez bc he poses for magazines and Rex too bc he likes to talk.

There are plenty of holes on this team. Its going to take years to help this organization and team to break into that elite class. Its not going to be solved this offseason unless Tanny has the best offseason in NFL history.

There are holes on so many positions that could be and must be addressed. Fixing this team will take a few seasons. And the mindset of winning now must be thrown out. Im sick of signing old vets to huge contracts screwing us over two years down the line. We need a GREAT FA and draft. The safety, RT, OLB, WR positions must be a major focus while also building solid depth at ILB, Oline, WR, Safety, TE, and even RB. A lot of holes... Tanny has a lot of work and the problem is, is that there's not one clear position that needs to be filled, there's multiple positions.

Greene is fine. Give him a couple better players on the line and a coach who doesn't abandon the run when it's working well, and he'll be a very good player. Maybe not a star, but good enough to be a solid #1 back.

If you're going to run the ball a lot, then Sanchez is fine. He's a good game manager. If he gets a more competent OC than dopey, than he should turn into a good QB. We need someone who will allow him to throw medium-deep on a somewhat regular basis instead of the bs dink and dunk. If you're throwing short all day, then it's counter-productive if you're trying to ground & pound.

Upgrade the OL, Sanchez needs better protection, Greene needs a better line to run behind. Additionally, the Terminator needs to be on the field much more.

We need a fast WR, someone who will get down the field fast and be a real deep threat since no one who's on the team right now fits that mold.

Defense, we need good safeties. We need top end pash rushers. We need younger LBs. Defense is a mess, need to upgrade.

I think the draft can address some of these issues. Others an be addressed through free agency. Others... well they may not be addressed this year. The thing is, something that's a strength this year can be a weakness next year. That's why Tanny gets paid big bucks.

I wouldn't call Turner elite until he got to the Falcons.

Elite is a strong word though. Dickerson, Martin, Thomas Jones, Ricky Williams, all had great seasons after leaving their first team. Some elite seasons were included in those. It's all about when you leave that first team.

I would consider including the following, but age is obviously a factor:

Curtis Martin (traded from NE to NYJ when he was 25)
Marshall Faulk (traded from IND to STL when he was 26)
Michael Turner (traded from SD to ATL when he was 26)
Cedric Benson (traded from CHI to CIN when he was 25)
Peyton Hillis (traded from DEN to CLE when he was 24)
Thomas Jones (traded from TB to CHI when he was 26, CHI to NYJ when he was 29)
Clinton Portis (traded from DEN to WAS when he was 23)

Every team has "holes", or spots with mediocre talent. If the Jets can find a safety to replace Smith and a three-down player who can rush the passer, you should consider yourselves fortunate from a defensive perspective.

On offense, RT is your only major need. WR could be upgraded, but the simple truth is that you guys need your QB and coaching staff to step up and make better use of the talent on the roster. Statistically, you guys have been okay on offense this year. It is mostly just inconsistent play (both game-to-game and within individual games) and costly mistakes (ints, fumbles) on offense and STs that is holding you back.

Even as a Pats fan, I think that the Jets have the right pieces and opportunities to become a superbowl contender next year. They have underperformed this year, even given the injuries and holes on the team.

overreactions by a fan after a bad loss do not equal a sound plan

do the Packers have to FIRE EVERYONE and CHANGE EVERYTHING after an embarrassing loss to a team the Jets beat by 2 touchdowns the week before?

How about the Ravens after their bad loss to the Bolts?

or the Titans who pretty much blew themselves out of the playoff picture by losing to the formerly winless Colts??

how about the Midgets who got swept this season in two games by the bottom dweller Redskins (not to mention the Seasicks)

FIRE EVERYBODY ON EVERY TEAM THAT LOSES EVERY WEEK!!!

THE SKY IS FALLING!! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!

I figured Martin was assumed :martin:

Turner "became elite" when he went to the Falcons, simply because he finally got the full time shot.
Forgot about Portis. always liked him. tough player.
Forgot about Ricky from NO to MIA as well
Dickerson, all-time great, but figured that was recent enough.

I wouldn't consider Benson, Hillis, or Jones elite

Well I suppose you can choose to see everything through green colored glasses and just pretend this team doesn't have major points to address. It's not like I'm saying I'm jumping ship to another team, I'm just not oblivious.

I think the biggest and most glaring needs are O-coordinator,Safety,O line (starting and reserve), OLB, WR depth.... In that order.
