Robert Jordans series is awesome. Last 2-3 book really pick up (last book written by diff author, who actually had better writing style) read em Do we have a date on when the next season for Thrones is starting?
walterfootball must be a GoT fan, he has taken to referring to the Chargers QB as "Philip Rivers, bastard of the Trident"
I've made it to Feast of Crows so far. I can't wait to see season 2 on HBO. Arya so far is my favorite character in the series. Tyrion is pulling a close second. *SPOILERS*(sort of) The Red Wedding is going to be an amazing thing to watch. Rob is such a bigger character in the show than in the book so the producers/directors/actors have a chance to make that a much bigger impact on the TV audience than the books tried to. If they pull it off right then it's going to be phenomenal. I remember I couldn't close my jaw after I read that chapter.
YES ! I love the Wheel of Time. I'm on Lord of Chaos right now. Trying to finish them all before the new book comes out.
The pilot for Luck was pretty good, might do a good job of filling a couple months of void until Thrones.
I looked around the forum but didn't see it posted. GRRM was at the Jets game this week. I didn't know he was a fan of the Green & White. Here's a short interview from the Jets' website. http://bit.ly/rXOsoM
I finally started A Dance with Dragons tonight. Holy crap, I forgot how great the writing is; its like going from ground beef back to eating prime rib when I compare it to the most recent books I've been reading.
I was wondering when the first time someone would spot him at a game would be. Thought it would be week 16 though.
lol, I actually used a steak comparison with Martin too, but I think I may have used Filet Mignon and flank steak (as you know my affinity towards ground beef burgin'). I'm also on A Dance with Dragons. I really hope the next installment comes out soon, or I'll be reading flank steak in the interim. Though I have a few good cuts on the grill -- William Dietrich for example, and I'd put him in the New York Strip category. I hope George R.R.'s publishers are pressuring him to get these damn books out in a timely manner! I have a feeling the next book, possibly the next 2 books, are already written.
he'll keel haul before he finishes the series. But, like Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, it may not be a bad thing.
I found an amazing series to read while I was waiting. Uplift Trilogy by David Brin 1. Sundiver 2. Startide Rising 3. Uplift War Sundiver, while pretty good in some respects, is tough to get through at some points. I had a little trouble visualizing what he was talking about for a couple parts. Startide Rising and Uplift War are two of the best books I've ever read in my life.
I was actually a bit disappointed in the quality of writing in ADwD compared to the other books, especially the way the characters seemed to devolve. You'll see what I mean, I think. Hopefully it's just a case of ADwD being a book that was never meant to be written.
