neither the jets or the giants will make the playoffs.

the last two games against the giants and dolphins could both be losses.

the cowboys figure to knock the giants out.

this assumes the jets don't choke away against KC ( orton starting at qb) or at philly.

right now, the dark horse is the titans.

    Week 14 playoff picture

    Broncos: 7-5 *AFC West Champ*
    Bengals: 7-5
    Titans: 7-5
    Raiders: 7-5
    Jets: 7-5

That's how the standings look right now. Jets are behind all those teams in tiebreakers. Makes you really regret those Raider and Bronco losses (among others).

This is our competition, all 7-5, with conference records in parentheses.

    NYJ (5-5)
    vs KC
    at PHI
    vs NYG
    at MIA

    CIN (6-4)
    vs HOU
    at STL
    vs ARZ
    vs BAL

    TEN (5-4)
    vs NO
    at IND
    vs JAC
    at HOU

    DEN (6-3)
    vs CHI
    vs NE
    at BUF
    vs KC

    OAK (5-5)
    at GB
    vs DET
    at KC
    vs SD

I think we need to get to 11-5 to get in. Between Oakland and Denver, one can win the division, and Denver likely gets those tiebreakers.

This week's rooting schedule, with my guess at the spreads (just to show relative odds of teams beating each other).

    Jets (-10) over Chiefs (duh)
Saints (-6) over Titans (if Titans win, 11-5 might not even be enough)
    Texans (+2) over Bengals
    Packers (-13) over Raiders
    Bears (+3) over Broncos

This could be a rare week where everything goes our way. The Titans and Raiders SHOULD lose, and the Bengals and Broncos are very slight favorites IMO.

It also wouldn't hurt if the Ravens lost, to increase the likelihood of that week 17 game vs Cincininati being important. I'd say the same thing about the Texans so they have motivation to beat Tennessee week 17, but we need them to beat Cincy this week.

But I think the big game is that Titans game. They need to lose to New Orleans, or 11-5 might not be enough as I mentioned. Indy, Jacksonville, and Houston are the last 3 weeks for them. They could win all 3 of those, especially if Houston has clinched all it could by that point.

at this point, i hope the ravens lose. that means steelers win the division, knocking pats out of top seed. they would have to go to pitt for a champ game.

The Titans are definitely the team I'm most worried about. I don't see any of those teams winning out, so I think 4-0 over the rest of the season gets us in no question. 3-1 is more realistic having to play in Philly and 'home' against the Giants. Miami is even starting to look dangerous.

I have a bad feeling it's going to come down to the Texans fucking us over by having nothing to play for in week 17.

Blowing that game against the Broncos really screwed us...

I cannot see any team winning out and getting in at 11-5. Too many flaws in all of the remaining teams, and too many good match ups left. Likewise, I think that there will be four losses between the Raiders and the Broncos. Objectively, I think that I would guess that the Titans get in at 10-6, Jets miss out due to poor tiebreakers, Oakland crashes and burns letting the Broncos limp into a first round pounding, and the Bengals don't survive Houston/Baltimore.

With green-tinted glasses, the defense starts to click, Sanchez builds on the last two weeks and gets back his accuracy, Tebow falls apart, the Titans and Bengals are exposed, and the Jets cruise go into the Miami game at 10-5 with the playoffs clinched.

You want the Pats to get HFA thruout.

We can go there and win. Not ready for another Pittiful AFCCG.

Doesn't matter. A four-fingered Orton will make it rain touchdowns all over our secondary.

If the Giants win the next two weeks (Dallas and Wash) they will really not need to win the game against the Jets. They pretty much need to win both Cowboys games, and the Washington game. If they do that, the Jet game won't be needed for them to win the division.

I'll say this though: If we get in, I like our chances vs either Denver or Houston.

    Anything pass that..heh.

The Titans are the ONLY team I'm worried about.

We're going 10-6 at worst ... maybe losing to the Giants or Eagles.
anyone who thinks we're losing to the Chiefs at home this week, or the Dolphins in a win-to-get-in scenario are crazy. it's not going to happen.

Even after the Titans lose to the Saints this week, we'll still need them to drop one of their last three if we go 10-6. That's the only thing that concerns me.

the Bengals, and the Raiders-Broncos runner up will both lose 7 games and no tiebreaker will be needed. I'm very confident about that.

This will come down to Jets vs Titans. You can bet on that.
Damn ... I wish the Texans had a legit NFL QB.

I think the Jets will win out and make the playoffs while the rest of those teams will lose at least 1 game.

The Texans are going to be our allies and they will take care of business even w/TJ Yates.

The Jets need both Ten. and Cin. to drop a game or two. The Raiders will take care of themselves by going 2-3 to end the season(counting the miami game last week). I can picture the titans and the bengals going 3-1 and that would mean that the Jets have to win out to get in.

If the jets win out they can make the playoffs

Bengals will lose to either houston or ravens
    Broncos will lose to pats
Titans will lose to the saints
Raiders will lose to either green bay or lions

we just need to win all games left, its hard, but it is easier to do it with our schedule than theirs

This is absolutely true. I don't know why some people ignore Miami. They are playing great football right now and by that point in their season they have nothing to lose. They might want to take us down with them.

was thinking the same thing... in classic jet fashion i can see the titans/raiders/bengals all falling apart a bit, the jets getting a do or die game against miami, and crapping it away
