Well looks like Reyes is a goner and the payroll for the mets keeps dropping $10 million every month....I dread to think what this roster will look like.

If we cannot even match deals for the likes of Capuano wtf are we going to do but no doubt that cunt Selig will say his mate Wilpon is running a steady ship.

Sources: Reyes deal with #Marlins does NOT include no-trade clause. Heath Bell passed physical, deal is official. #MLB

Marlins got themselves a bad deal

Hate that he's staying in the division. One of my favorite players of all time. Hope he's somehow traded to the AL and doesn't end his career in Miami.

Not happy that our compensation for losing Jose will be a sandwich pick between the first & second round and the Marlin's 3rd round pick, I was hoping to get a 1 for him. Hopefully Sandy will turn it into gold.

    I hate the Wilpons...

we're such a small market team.

i'm sorry, but i find so much wrong with the indecision to re-sign reyes. have been a met fan since i was a little dumb ass kid in 98, and watched EVERY SINGLE game from the dark days of 2002-2005 (2005 wasn't that bad of a year though), and have emotionally invested so much into jose, ever since his first major league at bat for us. he was and remains my favorite baseball player ever, and he was ours.

when i was in 7th grade a few years ago i remember my french teacher, who was a met fan, would go on and on about how her fandom was rocked when the mets had traded seaver, her favorite player ever. my met universe seems upside down right now.

i'm sorry, 6/106 is not an unreasonable contract, especially in a NY market, especially when it's one of the few real homegrown stars you've produced within the past 25 years. i fucking hate the wilpons so much. sandy can go on and on about how he didn't feel reyes in that range but if we had the fucking money he'd still be a met right now.

i feel sick to my stomach with how this team has been run. what a trash franchise right now. i'm not gonna follow them for a while, what's for sure is as long as the wilpons are still there i'm not gonna follow the mets. i don't know if i'll ever be back.

/pussy ass whiny bitch rant. gbye.

Over the last 3 years my interest in the Mets has gotten less and less. This upcoming year it might be zero.

Why don't they get a 2nd round pick? Shouldn't Reyes carry more value than Heath Bell?

I'm sure the Mets just got worse, which is no fun, but it's obvious that the Marlins were bidding against themselves here, and the Mets would have been crazy to try to match it (reports indicate that Milwaukee was the only other team interested, and they weren't going above $80 million for 6 years). There's no way that Reyes is worth $17.5 million a year for 6 years even if he stays healthy, which is unlikely.

None of that changes that the Wilpons are terrible owners, by the way.

Fangraphs says he's been worth more than that over the last 5 years.

The Mets offer was supposedly 5/75-85. If it was 5/85, this is the same annual rate + a $4MM buyout with a $22MM option.

Losing Reyes hurts. He will probably be hurt for 25-35 % of time in that contract anyways.
    Positives:
More money save can be used elsewhere [unlikely]
    Negatives:
    Fanbase reaction
    Loss of ticket sales
    Quality of 2012 team
Losing a player in his prime to a division rival

whowill they sign? might as well wait until next year... here are the remaining names of the current free agency:
    Buehrle
    Jackson
    Oswalt
C.J Wilson (most attractive, but is asking for too much money)
    Kuroda
    Harang

Dotel, Capps, and Lidge are some the top relievers remaining because i believe bell is headed to the marlins as well.

I'm done with the Mets. Never buying any merchandise or attending any games for a while (been to 20 over the past several years).

Losing Reyes is bad enough but having to watch cunts like Pagan and Pelfrey make me wish nothing but everlasting herpes on the Wilpon family tree.
