Not every bad thought deserves it own thread. We had 2 reverses to Santonio last game 1 went for 4 yards and the other was a pretty big gain. We have not once this year had 4 reverses and I cant think of any that came on 3rd and short.
You forget that Schotty the "genius" will try to outsmart the defense. He will use Washington's pass rush against them, and then he will figure that they know we are trying to use their rush against them so he will pass more. Then at halftime Schotty will do the opposite and run 4 reverses for a net gain of 5yds. Calling it right now. We have the most inept OC in the league.
On this topic... NFLN showed a clip from practice this week, really briefly, on their Around the League program. It was some convoluted reverse, where LT, Shonn, and Tone are all back there like they might be getting the ball on the reverse, and then after a lot of fakeout type stuff, the ball went to LT. It looked suspect in the practice, from the brief glimpse of the video, I can't even imagine it in the game. I sincerely hope that play does NOT make it in to the game. Although, given that two of the longest run plays of the season belong to Mark and Santonio, and Santonio was on the reverse... Who knows if Schotty won't try multiple reverses.
in fairness to schotty he hasn't gotten carried away with cuteness this year. he's just leaned on the excessively predictable. we will undoubedtly run quick timing routes even more so then usual in an attempt to subdue the pass rush. then people will be saying "WHY DON'T WE EVER THROW THE BALL DEEP!!"
sure and the spots were right. I have no problem with those types of calls as long as they come at the right moment and garner yardage. 3 out of how many plays? just curious. schotty scrutiny is totally understood and I am one of his biggest critics, but to bash just for the sake of it makes everyone look dumb.
THIS JUST IN!! SCHOTTY'S THOUGHTS IN A STRATEGY MEETING!!! "The quarterback. Two receivers line up to the left, one to the right. There's a flanker lined up to the left behind the quarterback. "He gives the ball-- No, he doesn't-- He doesn't get the ball. The receiver goes all the way over there to the left. Once the quarterback has the ball, he fakes to the left. No. He fakes to the right. He doesn't fake. He thinks about faking. He pretends to fake."
