I can't disagree ... but it's still better to watch your team in the playoffs than watching other teams.
Did we win the last 2 superbowls? I must be missing something. Our offense is truly inept this year. Not having a running game attributes to this. And it's not like we can pass when Sanchez is getting smacked every other play. And when he does get the time, he leads us down to the field only to make a rookie bonehead mistake. Face it, this year is not our year. The sooner you accept that the better off you will be.
So we should just stop rooting for our team then? We have the pieces to win and have just blown 2 games this year. Last night was especially bad. Sure we do not look like a superbowl team but that doesn't mean I'm not going to root for them to get there.
I don't think anyone is saying we're not going to root for them to get there......speaking only for myself, I'm just preparing myself for the inevitable to help deal with the disappointment. and I'd argue that we are lacking a few pieces to win....and they are becoming more glaring as the season progresses.
No on is saying not to root for them. I'll continue to. but it's time to get realistic. This is not a Super Bowl team, not a Division winner and maybe not even a playoff team. We have an average Head Coach, a terrible OC and a borderline professional Quarterback.
except the history of the Super Bowl reveals that things just don't happen come the playoffs and the teams that win the Super Bowl have proven capable of winning far more games during the regular season than the Jets will win this season or have in the last two. thus, at this point, even if the Jets make the playoffs they are not good enough to win it based on their regular season success. sure, they may be the very rare exception to the rule -- only the second team in the last 30 years to do so, but I think it isn't realistic to believe that is likely.
Rex is not an average head coach. Our team is just not as good this year. He came out with a great defensive game plan and the offense was looking good except for the fact that Mark couldn't buy a pocket and made that horrible pick. I would not blame Rex at all and after the last 3 years seeing anyone say that is just stupid.
if we had the pieces to win the Super Bowl we would be performing at a level that Super Bowl winners have proven to be capable of during the regular season. we aren't this season, didn't last season or the season before that, so please explain to us what those Super Bowl pieces are if their actual performance doesn't indicate it.
They also had Aaron Rodgers playing out of his mind in the playoffs. Only the true delusional Sanchez apologists would think he could reach that level.
did we look like a contender the last two seasons? and no we didn't win the SB in either of those years, but making the playoffs gives us a chance. I will admit those things about our D, and sanchez, they have got to play better if we're gonna make the playoffs. come this sunday night we will be only one game out of the WC, which is why i'm staying positive.
and are going to win 14 games this season, so clearly they are a team capable of winning more and their performance was due to other circumstances such as injuries. here is another post I made in another thread revealing why claiming teams like last years Packers, or the '88 49'ers, 87 Redskins, '01 Patriots and '05 Steelers winning 10 or 11 games somehow equates to it being doable by any team with those victory totals : at best the Packers are an exception, certainly not what you would want to hold your hopes on being. but realistically they are showing they aren't an exception because they are a team clearly capable of winning more than 11 games which is a prerequisite for being good enough to win the Super Bowl.
every team has a chance at some point to win the Super Bowl so simply having a chance is meaningless. do you have a realistic chance is the only thing that is meaningful, and that is based on regular season performance. until they are eliminated from playoff contention the Browns still have a chance to win the Super Bowl. The Seahawks made the playoffs last year and thuis had a chance to win the Super Bowl, but did you honestly think they would? probably not, you probably gave them next to no chance. that is why simply stating "but they have a chance" is ridiculous.
We looked a hell of a lot better with an offensive line that could block, a good running game, and a defense that didn't fold at the end of games. Not to mention, Sanchez actually was coming up big when we needed him and Holmes actually seemed like he cared he was playing for this team. We have none of that going for us right now. Wake up.
???????????? before the season, yes, every team has a chance, right now only about 15 teams have a chance. you can't win the SB if you don't make the playoffs. if your saying right now we don't look like a SB team, I agree. but any team that makes the playoffs has a chance, that's why there in the playoffs. the last two seasons we have stunk down the stretch, but yet made two great runs, there's no reason to believe we can't do it again.
I don't come here often, but i am no bandwagon fan. I've been bleeding green for more than 40 years. We are not making the playoffs and we do not deserve to. Our O line sucks, our QB is regressing. We don't have a single decent running back. Sorry to say SOJ. SOJ.
wake up???????? for looking at the schedule and realizing that every team ahead of us has to play each other????????? I'm telling you come Sunday night, we will be only one game out of the WC.
