They have what amounts to a 2 game lead, and the easiest schedule remaining in the league. KC @PHI IND @WAS @DEN MIA BUF those teams are a combined 21-43 with only BUF not below .500. The Pats' worst loss so far is to Buffalo, Pit is the 1 seed in the AFC right now and the Giants are leading the NFCE. I think you have to plan for them winning at least 4, which puts them at 10-6 with the tiebreakers. So yes it is reasonable to assume the East is close to locked up barring a Brady injury.
Replace Indy with the Giants and our schedule is pretty damn easy, too. The Pats did lose to the Bills, so there's still a chance they could screw things up. I'm staying position because I gotta keep myself interested somehow.
ESPN reporting Matt Schaub is out several weeks with a "significant" foot injury. Wonder how much this affects the Texans and the AFC playoff race?
Interesting. They have a bye this week, but I think the way they run they'll win at least 3 and win that division even without Schaub. That is such a run heavy offense I think leinart can do a decent job. He's actually a decent QB who got stuck behind the Kurt Warner resurgence.
This is how I see the other contenders for the wild card stacking up at this point: East Pats 12-4 = beat KC, Indy, @Was, Mia, Buf. Lose @Phi. DIVISION. #1 seed. Buf 9-7 = beat @Mia, Mia, Den, @SD. Lose @Jets, Ten, @NE. OUT. North Steelers 12-4 = beat @KC, Cin, Cle, StL, @Cle. Lose @SF. DIVISION. #2 seed. Ravens 11-5 = beat Cin, SF, @Cle, Indy, Cle. Lose @SD, @Cin. WILD CARD. Cin 10-6 = beat Cle, @StL, Ari, Bal. Lose @Bal, @Pit, Hou. COMP1 for Jets for #6 seed. South Texans 11-5 = beat @Jac, @Cin, Car, @Indy. Lose Atl, Ten resting regulars because at 11-4 they have the division and #3 seed wrapped up. Titans 10-6 = beat TB, @Buf, @Indy, Jac @Hou who are resting regulars in week 17. Lose @Atl, NO. COMP2 for Jets for #6 seed. West No competitors for the bye at the 10-6 level.
That's a big factor if it turns out to be true. Unfortunately the Texans have the pattycake schedule now and the Titans have the tougher one. If Hasselback was out we'd be in much better shape. It's going to be hard for Houston not to win 10 games at this point. They only need to go 3-3 to do it and they face Jacksonville, Carolina and Indy at this point. They're also getting Andre Johnson back after the bye.
The Texans are in the play-offs... Leinart isn't that bad a QB to fuck things up... I hope they lose a few so they play their starters vs the Titans in wk 17!
1 Steelers 2 Patriots 3 Texans 4 Raiders 5 Ravens 6 Jets Jets beat Texans (Will not be easy at all) Ravens beat Raiders That would set up Jets vs Steelers Ravens vs Patriots Its a toss up from their. The Patsies may be looking at one and done a 3rd straight year.
Yeah at the time I posted this, I wasnt aware Schaub was out for the season. If that is true though I WILL be cheering for the Texans, because id rather go into a playoff game against them, then have to see the Raiders again.
The good news is if we make it past the first round the divisional and championship rounds will be personal for Rex.
Hell yea. (although itd be nice to win the division for once). I think the fact is that this team is not THAT good and Rex is maximizing guys potential, particularly on defense. The offense confuses the shit out of me, I don't know how to diagnose it. But hell, it looks like the third year in a row we will fight it out on the road in the playoffs.
Looking at the schedule. yes, I'm going this route. den, buff, was,kc,eagles, giants, and dolphins, I believe we will only lose one more game, and if it's 2, 10 wins will get you in this season. please save, but we didn't win the division crap, how has it worked out the last two seasons for both the jets, and the patriots? don't get me wrong, I would love to win the division, but getting in the playoffs is the most important thing.
