I know a lot of us want to jump off a bridge now but it's really not that bad. For some reason we do choke against the Pats in these big games. Here's a good article from the NY Post that puts everything into perspective. http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/backpage/back_page_jets_have_come_back_from_BvbY8sbRVPtOyf2JtZ8trL
People don't get it. We're completely underachieving this season, and that's what's so damn frustrating. No one is saying that it's impossible for the Jets to win after this, but it's frustrating to see the Jets fuck up giant opportunities to take control of the division. We would have been talking 1st or 2nd seed after a win, instead we're now talking about backing into the playoffs. Fuck that.
I agree, that is pretty much it in a nutshell, the Jets should have treated last night like a playoff game and they just shit the bed instead.
How is this team underachieving? The fan base that only pays attention on game days had incredibly unrealistic expectations. This team took a major step back in the off-season. The runs we've made the last two seasons were nice, but this is a different team. *fuck it, I'm starting a thread.
it's frustrating but the loss is over. nothing that can be done. this loss was very much like the 45-3 loss. we just gotta wait and see what happens
Umm, are you dumb? How about last year where the Packers needed the Giants to blow an enormous lead just to get in? The same team that was 3-3 and 8-6. What about the 2007 Giants who were 6-2 and went 4-4 in the second half? They weren't a model of consistency. Christ, they didn't win but the Cardinals were 9-7 and almost won the damn thing. Give me a break about inconsistent teams can't win.
You're telling me that this team isn't good enough to win the AFC East? The Patriots are doing it with the 32nd ranked defense and less weapons on offense. Sure, they have a HOF QB, but they're not the Patriots of the early 2000s. There's really no reason why we shouldn't be sitting atop the AFC East right now.
the packers weren't lighting the world on fire in the beginning of last season. the cardinals made it in 08 to the superbowl, being extremely inconsistent and in a bad division no less. the 07 giants had a terrible start to the team, and then couldn't win at home
Exactly. Who here is saying we're not getting into the playoffs? But now, we went from the division leader to the possible #6 seed WC contender. I'm SICK of being the road team warrior. Will I be confident and support the Jets? Absolutely, I bleed green. But Come on, the amount of mistakes in this game was just atrocious. My only hope is we use this for fuel when we meet the Pats in the playoffs.
Yep. To say inconsistent teams never win the Super Bowl is just ridiculous. That said, this team does not look SB caliber. I don't think we're as bad as we looked vs New England, but this team has taken a step back from last season, and last season we weren't good enough.
Thing is we were only a few dumb mistakes away from winning this game. This was not a 37-16 blowout. This was a tight game until the D couldn't get off the field in the 4th and Sanchez sealed it with the pick 6. What bugs me most is that they looked like they had never seen a no huddle before.
That's why I think we weren't as bad as we looked. It's still a 37-16 blowout, but a couple plays here and there, and the game could have been a lot different. New England left some plays on the field, too (Ocho and Hernandez running out of bounds), but the Jets had a bunch of nearly big plays. Santonio falling down, Folk missing a kick, McKnight muffing the punt, nobody recovering the muffed punt, etc.
Agreed! No huddle and you can't handle it? Call a timeout or fake an injury. They looked like a HS football team during the no huddle.
Are you fucking kidding me, man? Rob Gronkowski is arguably the best all-around tight end in the league. Aaron Hernandez is incredibly dangerous. Wes Welker is on pace to break all kinds of records this year. He's killing the league. Chad Johnson, as washed up as he seems, is still capable. Deion Branch has incredible chemistry with Tom Brady. The Jets have very few weapons on offense. LT is our only back that can catch, because we sure as hell don't use McKnight. Greene can run between the tackles, but that's about it. Burress and Holmes are our only experienced wideouts. Keller can't block and is constantly doubled. Mulligan can't do anything except hold or jump early.
It just bothers me that we draft a 6'2" receiving tight end in the first round, and the Patriots get even better ones who can do more blocking AND receiving in the 2nd and 4th rounds.
