cant refute too much of that. the "students", players, and younger fans that are protesting the firing are showing their age and adolescent brain. they obviously have a long way to go in life.
I did not even think of the Catholic chruch aspect until now. This is even worse than I thought because it happend after the awareness of the Catholic scandle happend. The people in athority at PSU should have known how to face this situation because of the failures of the Catholic Church. They at least had a blue print showing not to try to cover it up and that each accusation needs to be investigated because if it is true and not stopped it will lead to many more victoms.
The worst part, and I mentioned this earlier in the thread, is Sandusky having the fucking nerve to name is biography "Touched." Considering the book was published in 2000 or 2001 and he was at the height of his proclivities is sickening. And for anyone who knew about the '98 incident that should have been a huge, gigantic waving RED FLAG. I mean, it's like a serial killer leaving the bodies in a ditch or the side of the road. If that isn't narcissism at it's very deepest and worst, then I dont know what is.
So if Sandusky was witnessed cutting the boys up in little pieces, which is about the only thing worse than what really happened, and the witness came to Joe Pa who relayed it to the administration, and they did nothing. And now by their inaction, Sandusky can go on cutting little boys into pieces, but everyone is absolved of any wrongdoing just because they reported it to their superiors? At a school that supposedly prides itself on doing the honorable thing? That's ridiculous. The Few Good Men line is spot on and to use another movie quote, you've got to "do the right thing". Penn State is not done cleaning house, and it wouldn't surprise me to see the football season scrapped if players stage protests or refuse to play. The BOT has a HUGE civil liability and PR problem on its hands. JoePa and the President had to go immediately because every time they opened their mouths in front of microphones, which was often, something incredibly stupid and insensitive came out. Rest assured, more will go.

He hasn't been fired because he hasn't said a word. The BOTs is in full damage control mode right now. They are dealing with the big problems first, like Joe Pa and the President. Then they have to figure out what to do with the idiots on suspension. Then they have to quell riots. Then they have to decide whether to play a game Saturday. Then . . . . Unless he opens his fat yap, I would guess McQueary will go when the rest of the coaching staff goes, which will presumably happen at the end of the season. This time next year, we will probably be coaching on some Indian reservation in West Texas.

Another fucked up piece of shit issue is that the 2009 incident which started the Grand Jury Indictmends which just landed now in 2011 ultimately took 2 years. So even if they indicted this fuck, it would have taken the legal system, at minimum, 2 years to stop him...

I would also add that appealing to the job hierarchy as an excuse for Paterno's inaction is ridiculous. The AD was not Paterno's boss in any realistic sense of the word; in fact, neither was the university president. Paterno was by far the most powerful person on the PSU campus. He certainly didn't mind exercising that authority when it suited him - like when he brushed off any suggestions that he retire a few years ago. The fact that he wouldn't use that authority in a situation like this to insist that the allegations be brought to the police is blameworthy; the fact that Sandusky was still welcomed on campus was reprehensible. Does anyone seriously think that if he had said to the AD "I think you should go to the police about this" that isn't what would have immediately happened? He was an enabler, pure and simple.
I'm so sick of hearing this stuff dominate the news. The more I hear it, the more my stomach turns. I just want to hear some real sports talk to get my mind off of it....
Lots of great posts above. I'd also add, as noted by someone in this thread earlier, that Paterno failed when he refused to resign. It was the only honorable thing to do. He says he has regrets now. Well welcome to the party JoePa! I'm sure all of the moms and dads who have their own guilt about this monster molesting their kids have regrets for trusting him. JoePA dishonored himself and his institution by refusing to say "the buck stops with me, this happened under my watch. I'm stepping down." What kind of arrogant fuck - when he knows a riot could be brewing - actually has the balls to say, no you need to fire me when he KNOWS his time is up at Penn State? Joe Pa, that's who. A fucking travesty all around. No leadership, no honor. Joe Paterno is a great football coach, but when it was time to be a man and take responsibility, he did exactly what he did in the Sandusky case - he refused to make the hard decision and let the chips fall. Yes, exactly. Read the story from a few years back. The AD showed up at JoePa's house to fire him and JoePa basically said, I'm not leaving, and the AD caved. He was the highest paid and most powerful person on the campus.
