I would say its possible if we can contain the edges and tackle... If we can do that, I think we can hold him to 80 yards or so because I would imagine that the Jets are going to be putting more men in the box then not bc our secondary has a better matchup

Not a fair assesment. We only have 8 kickoff returns in 7 games (last in the league) Gailey has even said he is in favor of taking the ball at the 20 instead of risking be on the 15 or 10. But when the weather starts getting colder and on days like this where its a bit windy, there will be more returns.
Yeah I really think, looking back on Brad Smith's kick returns he was in a very good system where anyone with decent legs could thrive. As for the Wildcat he was special .
Even if fizzco is right that it isn't fair to say on Brad it is a rather fair assessment overall. Everyone that has retiurned kicks under westy has been among the best in the league while with the jets. I dont think a guy like brad will prove to suck at returning kicks but he will have less success than he did while he was here.
Well in the few times he has ran the wildact, he has converted a first down all but twice i believe. He did it several times in a few preseason games on short yardage situations. He continues to be an effective talent like that and the contract is well earned. Well why don't we run the wildcat more you say? The offense has been running fine so far up to this point in the season that there is no need to consistently mix in the wildcat. But I'm sure Gailey has some plays stashed away for some big games. Maybe we even see some today. I believe he was signed to be a unique talent not a return guy.
One of his best unique talents is giving the offense the ball at the 30 instead of the 20. I don't think it makes sense to take that many potential big plays out of a guy like brads hands, especially if you aren't working him into the offense that much. He was always a guy that was a threat to score if you could get him the ball. Kick returns are one of the easier ways to get the ball in his hands.
I'm about 4 hours away, so despite checking weather.com, it's pretty much just a wild guess with that large of a distance gap.

I really don't think his KR skills were anything more than an ancillary benefit. The Bills had 2 Pro Bowl KRs already (Terrence McGee and Leodis McKelvin), plus Spiller who already has a return TD in his young career. Obviously B. Smith is an awesome return man, but he's far from the only one the Bills have. Gailey runs a lot of unique college-style sets (WC, wing, pistol), and I think the main reason they signed Smith was to give them even more versatility there. As long as he keeps being automatic on 3rd and short conversions, I think they got their money's worth. It's not like the bills are close to the salary cap or anything.
