uh, how would have an IRA magically made this problem disappear or prevented it? the maximum contributions you can make yearly on any IRA are very conservative. few thousand dollars a year at most. for the average person making 60k-80k a year, it's a good retirement option because of the compounding and eventual interest on interest buildup after 30-40 years, but for a millionaire it's nothing more than a minor piece of a solid portfolio.
That's a lot of bad decisions. I don't know why he'd retire after this seasons....hold a clip board somewhere else, find a coaching position...I am sure the Jets would pay him to do something...he's pretty healthy for an old guy
