AYFKM? You guys have really slurped up that Fitzpatrick kool-aid! I guess your team has sucked ass for so long, you stopped watching the NFl and failed to witness the "Fitzpatrick looks great" hype for one year with the Rams and one year with the Bengals (I know he was on those teams for more than 1 year, what I'm saying is he got hyped up and then crashed and burned all in one year for both teams). Sanchez has 4 play-off raod wins, and an almost miraculous comeback road win in the AFC championship game. WTF does Fitzpatrick have? C'mon Son!
Just win our remaining games & finish 13-3 & we will insure ourselves of a PO berth maybe even the division champ :jets:
Remember when Bills fans thought Trent Edwards was the second coming and they were going to be the team to beat in the AFC East? They love taking early-success kool-aid to the head!
yes they stop the run better. but not exactly great at it. Our OL appears to be hitting its stride, and should be able to move the ball on the ground against you. our run game is getting better as the season goes on. As far as the bills poor pass defense, it means that you don't have to be a great offense to take advantage. because your d is poor, it gives our less than stellar offense a chance. the key to the game is stopping fred jackson. We shut him down, your team is screwed. If not, its going to be interesting to say the least. Red zone efficiency is a problem for the jets, but was the SD game an abberation? or what it will be going forward? Yes, Sanchez can become a TO machine when rattled, like against the Ravens. Who's doing the rattling for the Bills? because last time I checked, you didnt have jack for pass rushers, and so if Sanchez has all day, he isnt likely to get rattled, which means, he won't become a TO machine, by your own admission. Which means your ball hawking secondary wont have many chances to make plays on the ball. I think your giving Gailey too much credit for "outcoaching" bellicheck and Reid. And not enough credit to your secondary. Its not like the Bills gameplan was better than either Reid or Bellicheck. Brady and Vick threw 4 int's each. two of bradys were batted/tipped if I remember correctly, and 3 of vick's were as well. In each case, you needed scores on those INT's to win the game. Despite the tremendous TO margin in your favor, they were very close games. If the bills don't get all of 8 of those INT's I don't think they win the games. But they did, and thats what counts. Thats not really coaching credit, thats luck and taking full advantage of opponents executional mistakes. It's not Bellichecks fault brady threw 4 ints, just like its not Gailey's great coaching that made him do it. See what I'm trying to get at here? Gailey has coached well, but I don't think he necessarily outcoached either guy on that day.
Point 2) Actually the Jets run defense is about league average in yards/rush at 4.2 (where the Bills are at a 5.1 ypr against). The Jet run "D" as bad as it's made out to be. The fact that the Jets have a very high amount of rushing attempts against them is the key. Part of that is that they have been relatively good against the pass (per attempt) so teams have opted to rush against them more. Point 3) While the Bills have been excellent in the RZ the Jets have been good as well (scoring at a > 61% clip - 6th in the league). Scoring TD's once in the RZ has not been the issue. Three and outs have been the Jets problem. Point 4) Anybody can turn into a TO machine when pressured. The fact is that Sanchez this year has not given up as many INT's as in the past (the same amount of INT's as Fitzpatrick). If you think the Bills will put the same pressure as the Ravens did then this might be an issue. Personally I don't think they will. The Jets defense has actually played pretty well this year. Probably not as good as the last two years, but better than most teams. Taking away the TD's scored by returns (which has nothing to do with the defense) the Jets "D" average a little over 17 points a game. Not bad. I believe that the Jets/Bills game will come down to whether the Jets take advantage of the bye week (something that they haven't done in the past) and turnovers. If the Jets are even or win the TO battle I give them a good chance to win the game.
I can easily see the Jets going 13-3 our schedule is tough but its not like we're gonna play the packers or saints
10 million is not a lot for a qb. Sanchez is making 14.75 mill this year. So 10 million for Fitz does not seem unreasonable.
The Bills success has been the running game and winning the turnover battle. The Jets run d played a lot better last week. The Bills' receivers are okay, but put Revis on Stevie, and Cromartie on Nelson and I will take our chances. Rex will load up to stop the run, and I think he will. The Jets have matched up well with Buffalo recently. Even Mark Brunell and Joe McKnight ripped them apart. The Bills will be doubted all season. They are a nice team, but they have some pretty big holes. They are well coached with a good running game and opportunistic defense. But I think the Jets match up well. They should be able to move the ball running and passing. As long as Sanchez doesn't throw picks, I think we should win.
Sanchez is making 14.75 because of the old draft system. His next contract he won't be making 15 million a season.
"Sanchez is making 14.75 because of the old draft system. His next contract he won't be making 15 million a season" Sanchez will get more than 10 million per year if he continues to improve.
It's convenient for you to label the Realists as "SOJF's" when we speak realistically, isn't it? There's a difference between a 7-9 failure, a 9-7 wildcard, and a 14-2 one-seed. Three degrees of success. Similarly, there are three degrees of Jets fans: 10% SOJF's 80% Realists 10% Blind Homers We've moved from the 7-9 mess to the 9-7 also-ran's. BFD. We're not the 14-2 elite team. This was supposed to be that type of year. Instead, looks like a repeat of '09. Rex Ryan's 2011 Jets are an inconsistent and confused group, never know which team is going to show up. They appear to need artificial tactics to motivate themselves, and after 44 games not sure how much longer Rex can hold this group together. As for not knowing the 'pulse' of this team, you're right. They have no pulse, hard to put a finger on that. If all that was needed was a new culture, Rex would be fantastic. That's just one facet of what was needed to get the Jets turned around. Now it's down to X's and O's. Never saw "culture" get rings and t-shirts. SAR I
Play badly after bye. Check. Need artificial motivation to get up for a game. Check. Prone to let-downs after big, emotional win. Check. Prone to playing down to the perceived level of competition. Check. Let's see what Rex Ryan's got because this game is a hornet's nest of much of what plagues this team and keeps them from being 'elite'. Should the Jets win this game? Sure. On paper, definitely. Will we be shocked if they lose it due to poor execution, mental errors, and sloppy play? Nope. SAR I
The offense didn't deserve to win either the Cowboys game or the Ravens game. The difference is that the defense and special teams were able to win one of them but couldn't win the other. Romo lost the game on two stupid mental decisions, Sanchez lost the game on a complete offensive implosion. In that context, the way to look at it is: The Jets offense gave the Ravens the win and the Jets offense couldn't prevent the Cowboys from winning. SAR I
I still like our chances to win the division. If we can win out in the division the Pats will have 2 in division losses to our 1. We can catch them. 12 and 4 with the tie breaker with the Pats is all we need.
You're gay and you love having sex with men. Shut the hell up and be a damn Jets fan not a hater. Rex Ryan has brought the team more success in 2 years then we have had in a very long time. Learn to embrace it and root like hell for our team. The Jets offense didn't give the Ravens the game, we just couldn't throw or run because of Collin Baxter being our starting center. Watch the team the past few weeks with a healthy Mangold because we have been pretty good.
I am a huge Jets fan, not a hater. There are SOJF's, there are Blind Homers, and there are Realists. I'm a Realist. You should be too. Regarding rooting for this team, I haven't missed a game on TV or in person since 1978, and as much as I am proud and excited about our dominant win over the Chargers I am embarrassed and disappointed that we couldn't come up with that same effort against the Raiders or Patriots. Same way I'm proud of our 4 playoff road wins but crushed we lost back-to-back AFCCG's. Doesn't mean I'm not a good fan. Doesn't mean I should drink the Kool Aid. Just means I'm realistic. Most of us are. SAR I
