Don't want to jinx it, but the Jaguars are beating the Ravens 6-0 at halftime and the Ravens haven't gotten a single first down in the whole first half, only 15 yards of total offense. If MJD didn't fumble on the 1 yard line, would be 13-0. Pray. SAR I
The Bills could "easily" be undefeated? ... with the worst defense in the league??? Shall I direct you to a clue? Not only couldn't they "easily" be undefeated ... it took a parade of miracles against Oakland, NE and Philly for them not to be 2-4 or 1-5 right now.
From a historical perspective, we've got a whole bunch of things working against us: - Coming off a big emotional win. - Coming off a bye. - Playing a team we think we're better than. - Week before the Big Home Patriots Game. Hey, it could be worse; we could be playing the Bills at home. SAR I
If you've noticed, Rex has changed the history of this team, minus the bye issue. They come off slow after the bye.
Here's what I've noticed during the Ryan era: Bye: We're in agreement, slow. Coming off Big Emotional Win: See back-to-back AFC Championship Games. Didn't get off the bus in Pittsburgh. Players admitted they were too proud of their victory in NE. Playing A Team We Think We're Better Than: I can count 6 Ryan losses to teams with losing records and 4 Ryan eked-out-lucky wins against teams with losing records since he's been here. Something about this team that just refuses to show up and max-out against lesser competition. Last year's 11-5 could easily have been 7-9 with the effort the team put forth. Week Before Big Patriots Game: See above. Ryan's team is too easily distracted, too dependent upon emotion for motivation. The lunchpail games are an adventure with the players sights set on SNF and the Patriots. As much as the Chargers game was the must-win, the Bills game is the real litmus test of this teams' character. If it's the same ol' Ryan Jets, you know what's coming in Buffalo and its not pretty. SAR I
How are you using both when it was just one? The Indy game was due to injuries during the game. Stick being out, Lito, TJ, and all of the sudden the team couldn't do what it was doing. It had nothing to do with emotion. The Steelers game, it was about the lack of emotion leading up to the game. They thought they could carry their win from a week before into the next week. But what does it say about their 4th quarter resolve? The fact that those teams were at home and played the Jets harder than most teams they faced due to the bullseye the Jets paint on their back. The team could also have been 13-3 too. What? I've never seen this team look ahead and over an opponent. That's something a Herm team would do. The Bills game is a test to see if they can come off the bye and win a game. Nothing more. Same ol' Ryan Jets? You mean postseason births and deep runs into the playoffs? Sign me up.
He'll stay and make "splashes" for "reactions" amongst other things that have to do with stick bundling.
NDmick How are you using both when it was just one? The Indy game was due to injuries during the game. Stick being out, Lito, TJ, and all of the sudden the team couldn't do what it was doing. It had nothing to do with emotion. Seems to me the emotional air went out of this team after the Pittsburgh AFCCG loss. Saying it was back-to-back AFCCG's at Pittsburgh, wasn't meaning to reference the first as a let-down. Many fans, too. Players aren't ignorant of NFL history. The Jets know how slim their odds are at returning to another one, allowing the last two years of horror sink in. One only wishes they'd had that epiphany that afternoon in Pittsburgh. The Steelers game, it was about the lack of emotion leading up to the game. They thought they could carry their win from a week before into the next week. Rex was quoted as saying he didn't feel he needed to create some drama for the team to rally behind as he'd done successfully the prior two games. Didn't say he regretted it, but didn't say he'd try that tact again. Either way, a guy like Bart Scott shouldn't need artificial motivation to bring-it in Pittsburgh; like Rex, it was his third consecutive shot at a Super Bowl. Why was he one of the prime offenders, bringing no fire and no leadership to a team that was sleepwalking? Either way, as relates to the Bills game I don't trust that after the big Charger win we'll be up for Buffalo and I'd bet a lot of Jets fans feel that way. But what does it say about their 4th quarter resolve? The fact that those teams were at home and played the Jets harder than most teams they faced due to the bullseye the Jets paint on their back. The team could also have been 13-3 too. Agree completely that the Jets comeback ability last year was pretty remarkable. What is bothersome is that our dominant defense and superior offense in those games couldn't just build up a two score lead and make the thing a cakewalk. Detroit? Denver? Houston? Cleveland? I know any win in the NFL isn't easy, but these games never should have been in a 2 minute panic to begin with. What? I've never seen this team look ahead and over an opponent. That's something a Herm team would do. The Bills game is a test to see if they can come off the bye and win a game. Nothing more. The Bills game is a test of multiple things. Coming off the bye and off the big win and as the opening act for the Patriots SNF showdown; it's got a lot of past ghosts working against it. Same ol' Ryan Jets? You mean postseason births and deep runs into the playoffs? Sign me up. Inconsistent regular seasons replete with dumbfounding losses and eked-out wildcards followed by underdog playoff runs that crash and burn at the halfway point? No thanks. This team was tweaked for the Big Year 3 Ryan/Sanchez Breakthru where we overtake the Patriots, take the division, get a first round bye. Either Ryan has a fantastic team that underperforms in the regular season -or- he's got an average team that overperforms in the postseason. Neither is good. We've seen this movie before. It doesn't end with t-shirts and rings. SAR I
As idiotic as the post that you were responding to was, your "snappy comeback" posts are possibly even more annoying.
I thought it was well-deserved and funny, but what do I know? Oh, that's right. I know that you appreciate Jeremy Kerley's 4 catches and his workmanlike play.
So you think they're sad and quiet due to a loss last year. How bout no. Its who the team is, a tough talking, in your face fuck you kind of team. Embrace the identity. How is it a big charger win like it meant everything? The Chargers were known for knocking off shit opponents for those 4 wins, and they never travel well and Rivers has been playing like shit. You overrate that team. They played close games all year that year. Have you not noticed how this team plays? Start slow, and then after halftime, win the game. Who said with a sophomore QB that this team was going to be some sort of powerhouse? And the Packers of last season lost games by 3 pts or in OT like it was their job to start the season. No one thought they were going to win it all. They were, after all, a wild card team. The opening act for the SNF what the fuck are you talking about? One week a time. Learn football. Okay, then go back to 7-9 seasons with the occasional 10-6 or 4-12 where the team gets wiped clean to start all over again. Fuckin SOJF. He's got a solid football team with good mental toughness and a team that's still coming into their own with a young QB and this season a more banged up defense than previous seasons. You don't have a great pulse on this team. Past failures and the bullshit attached to this franchise you have down pat, which just shows how much of an SOJ cancer you are. This is a new culture. Embrace it.
