And this is absolutely true. So far we haven't seen the next generation of great QB's aside from Rodgers and Roehlisberger. Rodgers has taken a lot of sacks already which means his career is not necessarily going to be the longest. Same for Roethlisberger.

The guys Sanchez is going to be compared too are people like Flacco, Ryan, Newton, Bradford, etc. The jury is still just as much out on them as it is on Sanchez at this point. For Ryan to be taking a step backwards this year is telling, and the Falcons have dropped off at the same time. Ryan has actually been fairly ordinary for his last dozen starts or so going back to last season.

No and that trade was horrible...hes no longer in his prime and could be a bust for 2 first rounds....

If Palmer is a bust then it is a 1st round and a 2nd round. Still a heavy price to pay but if you want Al Davis's last team to win, like Hue Jackson obviously does, you make the trade.

    WOW!

    Just WOW!

Anyone other than a Jets fan would take one #1 let alone two, unless it was a to a definite playoff team. #1 draft picks are worth more than they used to be since the player won't be making ridiculous money and there are some pretty good QB's coming out.

Are you fucking kidding me? Who, pray tell, would we be bringing in as a rookie starter who would miraculously be so much better than Sanchez?

This is just a stupid post.

    ^^ Agreed.

I think the biggest mistake people make is releasing the quarterback before they have a chance to develop. Mark Sanchez, although a little iffy at times, has improved since last year. His stats speak for themselves. They are not great, but they have improved. Give him better protection and establish a run game, and you have a whole new dimension for him.

I'm not kidding in the least! It would be easy to pick up an average QB in the draft and you would have to pay him near as much. You would lose a year while the new kid comes up to speed but then again, you're in that position with Sanchez after three years.

Steelerstone would know about this stuff. He watched a dynasty win 4 Super Bowl Championships despite being held back by an "average" QB in Terry Bradshaw.

So let me get this straight - we pick up any given QB in the 1st round (I'm still not sure who exactly you think this would be), throw away one season while he learns the offense, and in year 2 he'll be just as good as Sanchez and we're right back on track!

I never realized it was that easy!!

This thread is one of the worst reflections on the Jets fanbase that I've seen on TGG thus far. Check that - THE worst.

Sanchez has a shaky start going into year three and every SOJF suddenly comes out of the woodwork - "Trade him for Orton!" "Trade him for Bradford!" "Trade him for a hypothetical shot at Luck!"

Give me a break. Why don't we just trade all of our players for a hypothetical shot at Peyton Manning's son in 2030? I always knew Jets fans were fickle, but this thread is a disgrace. Show a little fucking faith.

Yeah, Bradshaw was so "average" that he's in the HOF, some place that Sanchez is unlikely to ever see except as a visitor.

Sanchez has had 40+ starts in his career. He's not significantly better at 40+ starts than he was
at 25 starts (the equivalent of a full season) since he is still making the same mistakes and having the same problems. When, exactly, do Jets fans stop making excuses for Sanchez and realize he's NOT an elite QB and never will be?

I don't think anyone is saying he's elite, and you have no way of knowing if he ever will be.

I would take 1 first rounder for him. He is average. He makes throws in perfect situations, he doesnt add anything to the offense. He is in the bottom third of nfl qbs. Im sorry to see the best defense we had in years get old while the jets figure this out.

The defense was the reason we lost both playoff games, not Sanchez, but thanks for playing. (Not to mention he was a rookie and sophomore those two years, assuming you didn't watch the Jets the last two years)
