2 1st hell yeah then I'd flip a 3rd for Matt Flynn or a 6th for Jimmy Clausen or Brady Quinn whoever wouldnt do this is dumb as Sanchez is a game manager and I think all 3 the QB's mentioned can be just as good maybe better especially Clausen who has a better arm.........a way better arm at that
This is an interesting, if quite flawed perspective... maybe you ought to pick a couple of other QBs to replace him with though.
Only if you can get those QBs on the field at the same time, and they all throw the ball together on 3.
You're correct on that in my opinion, at best we'd get 2 second rounders, at very best...but the question was would you trade him for 2 first round picks, and I'd have to say that's way over his value I'd have to say quite possibly I'd do that, but given the premium on QB's I'd have to be sure I could replace him with atleast someone roughly equivilant or potentially better. If I was sure I could get Luck in the draft using those two first round picks or less I'd do it in a heartbeat.
Matt Flynn, Jimmy Clausen, or Brady Quinn? Enjoy mediocrity again. Mediocrity is all most Jets fans can handle, otherwise it's just too much for them. I think they secretly enjoy being able to bitch and talk about "potential" instead of a good team.
Your already quiting on the guy after getting to two AFC Championship Games? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh boy.
I'm 100% sure that Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks would take Sanchez in a heartbeat and pass on those picks.
Actually the team the Jets could get a fortune out of for Sanchez is whichever team winds up in LA. He'd be a major marketing tool and the perfect antidote to the gangland thug problems since he'd get marketed like a Latino heartthrob instead of a bandanna wearing tough guy.
Trading Sanchez (which would never happen) only makes sense if you don't think he'll be a franchise QB. If that's the case, then trading him makes sense because his value would still be really high. Otherwise, you're right, there's no way Sanchez is going anywhere. It would be one thing if we had a backup QB that could step in and replace him, but we don't. And Flynn would not go for a 3rd. I've read the Packers wouldn't even accept a 1st rounder for him. Clausen, maybe you could get for a 6th, Quinn for sure.
Thats because people are retarded. This whole thread is insanely hypothetical cause A)nobody would offer two first round picks for sanchez. case closed. anyone using the Palmer deal to debate that needs to realize the Raiders are 4-2 in a horrendous division and with the potential to win it, are smelling blood for success after their drought. and made a typical Raider trade in their pursuit of that. B)The Jets are not trading Sanchez. Rex and Tanny will live or die by this pick and can probably afford to since Rex is a defensive coach. His job wont be on the line if Sanchez doesnt pan out as long as he can field a solid defense. Which will not be an issue. And people who might be thinking anything I've said in this thread is dumb, let me reiterate -I've said its hard to judge Sanchez progress with all the dysfunction on offense. -I've said that Sanchez continually misses throws a franchise QB HAS to make Dont see how any of that can be refuted. Also lastly, due to the hypothetical nature I said "I'd take Andrew Luck over Sanchez any day of the week." Thats not me bashing Sanchez, thats just how impressed by Luck I am. I love Sanchez, he just needs to overcome the excuses people can make for him. Cause thats how good he should be about now if hes going to reach the potential we think he has. Also for anyone who might want to save this remark in their back pocket, just like any QB the player has to be in a situation built for them to succeed. So I stress, with this core group of players, and a Rex Ryan defense, yes I would take Luck over Sanchez. Also, someone mentioned how "that Ryan Leaf, Jeff George etc etc was supposed to be really good." Thats nice scared logic, that isnt really a good comparison either. Luck IMO is one of the best prospects to come out at the position in a while. If not top then at least top 3. With overall skillsets and intangibles that ultimately take him out of the comparison with such people who didnt have work ethic or a mature attitude on how to conduct themself. Anyways like I've said I love Sanchez he has an X factor about him and has displayed a 10 yr vet work ethic since day one. He just needs to overcome whats going on better, cause legit Franchise QB's make everyone around them better. They also dont miss the few open targets via misreads, or a bad throw. The margin for error in the NFL simply doesnt allow it. I think and hope Sanchez will ultimately pan out. People do need to back off on giving anyone questioning him a hard time though.
No one would give two firsts for Sanchez. Obviously it would be smart to take them, could get Gerrard and have a better QB plus two firsts.
I wouldn't trade Mark for 7 first round picks Name all the NFL quarterbacks with 4 playoff wins in their first two seasons.... I'll wait
This is such an incomplete argument. Man, I'd give up THREE first rounders for Rex Grossman, he made it to the SB!
What player is really worth two number one picks? Manning? Brady? I don't think so Carson Palmer isn't and that Oakland did that, smacks of desperation. It isn't going to work out. Mark as good as we think he is, is not worth two number ones. Giving away two number one picks is mortgaging your future, a bad move in today's NFL.
No thank you. This team has too much invested in Sanchez at this point to even think of dealing him - even for 2 1st round picks. First of all, I'm very skeptical that the Jets could realistically get 2 #1 picks for Sanchez. Secondly, a 1st round pick does not in any way shape or form guarantee to translate into a productive player. Who knows, we could pick up two extra 1st rounders and end up with 2 more Vernon Gholstons - you just don't know. Sure we're still seeing Sanchez struggling in some games but you can't ignore the fact that he's still in the early stages of only his 3rd year and the kid has undeniably come up with a lot of crucial wins (and crucial game-winning drives) when we've needed them - especially in the playoffs. I bet if you had started a hypothetical thread when he was drafted asking "If Sanchez leads us to 2 AFCCGs in his first two seasons and wins 4 playoff games on the road, would you trade him for 2 1st rounders?" you probably wouldn't have had too many people on board with that. The kid is just having a tough start this season and people are freaking the fuck out. I haven't been too happy with how Sanchez has looked so far this year either but there are a lot of factors at play. The hypothetical trade talk is just silly. And on a side note, if Luck turns out to be anything less than an elite QB in the NFL we're going to see a 24-hour, all-you-can-eat crow buffet the likes of which may be unprecedented.
^^^This exactly. Saying that Mark Sanchez is the reason this team made it to the last 2 AFCCGs makes absolutely no sense. They made it to the last two championship games because of a great defense and a strong running game. Any team with a great defense and good running game will have at least some success even if their QB is average at best. But what happens when other teams no longer respect the running game, or when the defense, though still very good, has not proven to be as dominant as it was in the past? The answer to these questions has been playing itself out since week 1 this season. The bottom line with Sanchez is that he is sometimes very good, sometimes god-awful, and has in his two and a half years as a pro shown some signs of progress, but not enough to say that he will ever be a top 5 or 10 QB. I don't understand how, despite all of the evidence to the contrary, so many people cannot see that over the past 2+ years that Mark Sanchez has been the weak link on what could be a great team.
