haha you underestimated the stupidity of the Raiders, with or without Davis.

In all seriousness, this is one of the WORST trades I've ever witnessed. This could set their franchise back another few years after it took time to get out of the shithole Jamarcus put them in.

Look at Palmers career numbers...outside of year 2, where has he ever shown he's top 10 material? Guy hasn't been the same since Kimo took out his acl/mcl. And for that, a qb at 31, with a hefty contract, who hasn't seen an NFL field in a while (is he even in shape), to come to a new team, new system (a WCO system btw which plays against Palmers strengths).

This has disaster written all over it. Good for the Jets though, one less team to worry about come playoff time.

source on that? because if so thats hilarious.

I believe it, but come on man... why cant the raiders ever trade with us?

whats their draft in April? a 5 and a 6? good luck keeping with the growth of young talent there...

Heard it on the local radio earlier but ESPN says it here:

"According to a source, if the Raiders win a playoff game in the 2011 season, the Bengals would get a first-round draft pick in 2013. If the Raiders don't win a playoff game in the 2011 season then the Bengals would receive a second-round pick in 2013."

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Palmer plays well this year and leads the Raiders to a division title.

I feel just the opposite. Granted, Oakland gave up way too much and have sacrificed a good part of future seasons. The only thing that matters to the Jets is THIS season. IMO the Raiders improved themselves at the position and made themselves at least a 9 win team based on their weak remaining schedule. With the tie breaker over the Jets, that means the Jets have to get to 10. If Oakland sneaks away with 10 wins the Jets are toast.

This is the stupidest trade I've ever heard of. I really think the NFL should consider taking control of the Raiders or something because no one in this organization should be making decisions.

The Raiders are the draft-pick piƱata of the fucking NFL.

If we beat the Chargers that would probably be best for us since we already lost to the Raiders (in terms of head-to-head tiebreakers later on).

Yep, this was clearly Oakland's motivation.

They're not a contending team with Boller at QB. Campbell's injury forced their hand into desperation/win-now mode.
Hue Jackson knows him, and evidently Palmer has been throwing and keeping in shape (not just chillin' watching Redtube all day).

It was an exorbitant price, but the Raiders must have thought they had no choice.

I would wager Palmer will get benched in favor of Pryor before the end of the year.

i just am mind boggled that he could possibly be ready to roll straight away. I guess he could sit this week, and with the bye week next week get himself up to speed kinda and go from there.

But dear god thats an exorbiant price considering Kolb was a 2nd orunder and a solid yet unspectacular corner.

The more I think about it, the more I can't understand it. If you're oakland, you have to assume you wont win the superbowl this year unless you trade for a truly fantastic QB, which Palmer has shown he is not since the knee inijury. Then you factor in not having a draft already this april, plus just drafting Pryor who you must feel has a chance to become an NFL QB. You could probably have found a guy like Vince Young from Philly for a 5th this year and like a 4th next year or something like that.

it literally boggles my freaking mind that they would mortgage the future, create a gigantic QB controversy next offseason, all for a 31 year old QB who has been everything short of good for 2 years, then couple it with him not having an offseason program, and not playing football in 8 months, never playing with the receivers, the major salary and plenty of other reasons. It just screams epic failure in the near future to me. Especially if making the playoffs all but assures the second pick is a #1. Hell making the divisional round gives the bengals a 2nd #1. thats just plain stupid

He may be in shape, but he's sucked for 2 years now. And that was before spending 8 months away from the NFL.

I would wager that Palmer goes down with an injury before the end of the year.

Sad part for Marvin is by the time the Bengals become something possibly with these draft picks, he will be out as the Bengals head coach.
