Marshall has been the only receiver I have seen give Revis trouble

That was an illegal contact penalty. Where the ball was thrown didn't matter.

    Thank you.

The Dolphins were able to work the ball short to Marshall when he used his size advantage to seal Revis off, but every time that they tried to go deep they had no chance.

What did Marshall get, one first down off of Revis? I'd hardly call that "trouble."

Anyone who thinks this was a negative Revis thread clearly missed the point.

OK, how about this: Marshall veered out of bounds screwing up a sure TD because there was no one on the defense that was going to catch him.

    Disagree?

It's totally irrelevant, as Marshall was being "covered" by Cromartie--not Revis--on that play.

How about this, if you are going to troll a Revis thread, at least know who he was covering on that play.

"If" goes both ways, You could also say that if he didn't push off on two of his receptions he would not have made those catches making Revis's game even look better.

On the ball through his hands in the EZ, That was a tought catch, he should have made it but the ball was thrown too fast and behind him.

Marshall is a good receiver, but they threw to him a ton last night, and some of his catches were indefensible. He only got open on Revis by pushing off or cutting inside him. Revis won every major confrontation, including the pass break-up in the end-zone and incomplete pass in the 4th qtr.

Marshall is too flakey and prone to self-destruction ( i.e., running OOB) to be a great receiver

Thats why Revis is Revis. This thread is about Revis having some trouble vs. a WR on a night where he had 2 interceptions and a 100 yard Pick 6. Praise be.

that's why this thread was made. he allowed 5 catches for what? 30-40 yards all season? gotta give credit to marshall for giving him a little bit of trouble. revis still won in the end. when you throw in his direction 10 times you're playing with fire. 2 interceptions and 4 PD's. could've had another INT on that overturned call on our challenge.

There's an interesting duality with the current Marshall/Revis matchup, particularly last night's.

If Marshall had a good, experienced (say, top-10) QB throwing to him, then he almost certainly would've caught the dropped pass in the endzone that was thrown behind him, because in all likelihood, a top-10 QB throws that pass more accurately. Furthermore, a top-10 QB probably locates Marshall several more times throughout the game (when he was open) and, again, delivers the ball accurately.

At the same time, an experienced top-10 QB would make better reads than Moore, and combined with keen film-study and knowledge/respect of Revis, a top-10 QB would - and almost always does - avoid targeting Revis (Peyton Manning is a prime example). Therefore, an upper-echelon QB probably wouldn't have even given Revis the opportunities for 2 INTs along with a few Passes Defensed last night, which would've resulted in an overall quieter game for both Marshall and Revis.

    ProfootballFocus:

QBs currently have a rating of 4.9 when throwing into coverage against Revis. Next best corner is Jonathan Joseph at 47.0
