It's funny because the more and more I think about it, the more and more I become convinced that not landing Nnamdi was a good thing for the long run. Instead of giving a 30 year old Cornerback (who wouldn't even be the best corner on the team) a 5 year 60 million dollar deal (or thereabouts), we resigned a 27 year old cornerback who played extremely well for us last season (and still provides us, along with Revis, with one of if not the best cornerback duo in the NFL) and were afforded the opportunity to add several complimentary pieces to our team. We have enhanced our depth across the board, filled a number of needs, and maintained some semblance of cap flexibility going forward (next year, notwithstanding).

The better discussion is Holmes + Cro + Plax vs Holmes and Aso

Aso would probably be better off here than in Philly.

I would only be into having Edwards with Holmes too. I know Edwards and plax would probably be doing worse than Holmes and plax.

    Neither

I think the Jets would have been much better off with Edwards and Joseph. Screw Nnamdi and screw Holmes.

Nnamdi Asomugha was overrated in OAK -- they had no rushing D so nobody never needed to throw against them from 2007-2009.

We blew it on the WR's. You don't change 2 of your 3 top WR's for a 3rd year QB with accuracy problems (55% completion).

It was even worse than that. 3 of the top 4 receivers changed.

No he wasn't. You should have watched this guy cover receivers. He's the best cover corner since Deion.

Rather have JJ, Holmes that Cro and Holmes but it is what it is.

As we can see the Defense needed a bunch more than just a corner opposite Revis.

Yup....noted....I thought we could do without Smith though.

But Edwards was there for the signing, even for a 1-year deal. We were obsessed with pairing Nmandi with Revis.

Better than Revis ? He's been BELOW AVERAGE in Philly. Blown tackles, blown coverage...I never thought this guy was 1-B to Revis' 1-A.

Is he good ? Yeah. Is he a shutdown corner ? I doubt it.

The results in Philly to date prove it.

And 1 year later....Asomouga was benched, is likely to be cut, and was one of the WORST DB's int he league.

Unreal that Ryan and MT wanted this clown.

And meanwhile, Cromartie established himself as a top 5 corner in the NFL.

Hindsight is 20/20 huh? Your going to say you saw that coming? The guy was one of the best CBs in the league and just fell off a cliff. Blame Tanny and Rex for a lot of things but not this one.

Actually.....I did see this coming !!

I posted on it at the time....I said I didn't want him on the team at the price he commanded....and doubted he was much better than Cromartie.

I follow the Raiders intensely (rooting for them to FAIL) and watched his career....he NEVER shut down top WR's...the Raiders stunk against the run from 2006-2010 so they never were thrown at.
