The most they could offer is a 3rd round for next year. They have a 1st, 5th, and 6th I believe this year and that's either too much or too little for Palmer.
They should honestly just trade for Orton or get Garrard, Palmers timing will be all off and I doubt he adjusts back into the game quickly.
I thought this, what have they got left to trade? Now that AD is gone (RIP) they are probably less likely to make bizarre trades.
So much for that team finally making smart moves when Davis dies. They can only get Palmer by mortgaging their future away. It's not worth it, espcecially for a team with some promise. Their best bet is to spend some money on Gerrard, who is not very different from Campbell. Save their pics because no matter who is at QB, their odds of getting to and/or winning the SB this year are very slim.
not understanding why you guys would think this is a bad idea.. first off the bengals are stuck so behind the 8-ball its not even funny. Palmer has stayed true with his word that he'd rather retire than play for them... not just words, actions. If they lose a franchise QB (mid-level one, but franchise none-the-less) FOR NOTHING.. that hurts them talent-wise and people are going to be less likely to sign with them in the future. If you are a free agent and money is close and you see that a respected player decided he would rather retire than play for the bengals you would without question sign with the other team. It has longer lasting ramifications than just losing Palmer. Brown has handled this whole thing like a complete idiot. They're 4-2 right now, thats great: look at who they've played. They will end up back where they should be by the end of the year and still have a bare cupboard going further. At this point a 3rd-round pick for Palmer is too high because the bengals have no cards left to play, but if they offer that or less and Brown accepts the Raiders get a steal. Comparing Garrard to Palmer is very silly. Garrard really is not that good, is a poor leader, frankly hated by his teammates so much so the Jags were willing to sacrifice a whole season to dump him. Picking up Garrard stinks like a Raiders' move. Palmer on the otherhand would love to go back to California, would be a good leader going forward and with that punishing running game and defense they become the favorites out west and have a really good core for future years.

Getting Palmer would be a great move for the Raiders. Brown would be stupid not to get something for him now that he's getting nothing from Palmer. However, I just don't see what the Raiders have to offer. However, the raiders to have a history of overpaying...
I disagree. At this point, Palmer is NOT going to help them much this season, so what is the point of trading for a used QB who hasn't played well in 4 years? By the time Palmer is ready to play (ie, has learned the playbook well enough to be even somewhat successful), the result of the season (playoffs or not) will already have been determined: either Boller has proven decent and they don't need a new guy or Boller has stunk it up, and the Raiders are no longer contenders. Sign Garrard or Edwards as a backup.
THIS. Plus, I haven't seen anyone compare Gerrard to Palmer. What I compared earlier (because I'm almost certain that comment was directed toward my comment) was cost/value. Raiders have sht in terms of picks next year as it is (do the Pats have all their picks again). To give up their first (leaving them with only 2 late round picks next year) and probably a high 2012 pick to get Palmer right now serves no intelligent purpose.

I heard the Raiders can't afford Palmer's cap hit, and I doubt Palmer would come out of retirement forced to redo his deal.
According to one website: Carson Plamer - Traded to Oakland (OAK) from Cincinnati (CIN) for a 2012 1st Round Pick and a future pick. If true - holy crap!!!!
His base salary over this year and the next 3 years is 11.5m, 11.5m, 13m and 14m, which is almost as high as Sanchez's!!! if he reworks it even a little he still stands to make 30m-40m over the next few years - nice work if you can get it.
